The 1st 3 weeks were great and this week its all gone to pot. It was all going so well, I was actually enjoying them being at home. But now in week 4 and its all changed. Both DDs have been grumpy and bickering non stop this week meaning I'm grumpy and then DP is grumpy cause I'm grumpy. I think we've all just had enough of each other I guess..roll on September!

Dd who is nearly 15 wanted to go back to school 2 weeks ago.
She hates the holidays.

Thought I would feel like this - I am an older carer with two boys with me on residence orders. However, and perhaps it's my age, I have enjoyed the holidays away from pressures of school runs, timetables etc and grown to appreciate my lovely younger GS whose behaviour has improved so much that I am really proud of him.

He went on a trip out with friends and colleagues earlier in the week and despite initial concerns, on return a number of people said they wanted to take him home with them!

No, I am not looking forward to term time....

Yes weary is a very good way of putting it, thats exactly how I feel. The same arguments and 'he said, she said' etc. And then there is the mess which mulitplies every time I turn around!
Never mind counting down the days!

Yep all out of free ideas for fun and more importantly the energy to think of anything more. Cant face any more days out or having friends over play but know I just have to or they go stir crazy! Its not that we do stuff everyday its just those days where I need to spend the day doing housework or a rainy day indoors turns in to bickering after a couple of hours if I don't get involved. I'm very weary of it all now...still nearly week 5!

Aww.... I have a list of messy awkward unsure-how-to jobs that I am trying to do around DC who can't agree what to do or where to go out of the house (& squabble and behave rambunctiously most the time, too). I hope it will get easier to get things done when they're all back at school/preschool.

Try being on week 10 and then moan Grin. DD broke up in early June in Belgium. We moved to England a month or so ago.
Two and a half weeks to go.........................................................
I have to say, she is so looking forward to starting at her new school. We've got virtually all of her uniform and she keeps trying it on and showing it off to the cats.

WOW.. we used to have 3 months summer holidays and we loved it! I think the system in this country should change and the 3 inter-trimester breaks should be added to the summer holidays and you will love it too Grin

Much the same here. I know many will disagree but I think the long summer stretch is too much for most kids.
As you say the first three weeks were fine but we have now descended into arguments, fighting and I have used up most of my ideas for free fun!

Think 4-5 weeks would be plenty and then have the extra time elsewhere?

Anyway you have my sympathies!
