Hello, My son got his 3rd choice of school however i wanted him to go to the school he attends nursery and he is the only one from the class going to this different school, i dont find it fair as he struggles to make new friends as he suffers panic attacks and took me 7 month to settle him to this nursery!
The school he has been offered has very poor ofsted report so not too pleased!!

Anyone appealing have any advice on what i can or should take with me for the appeal etc, and how likely it is it will get overturned!

Stressed out big time!!

The big question with any appeal for Reception is whether it is an infant class size appeal. That means that, if full, the school would have classes with 30 children in Reception, Y1 or Y2. If it is an infant class size case you should only win if you can show that the LA has made a mistake. Leeds give priority to children with exceptional medical needs which can only be met at a specific school. If you provided evidence from your GP about your son's panic attacks you could argue that he should have been placed in this category and therefore a mistake has been made. You can still try even if you didn't provide this evidence and you may strike it lucky, but realistically your chances of winning an infant class size appeal are low.

If it isn't infant class size I would recommend getting a letter from your GP about your son's panic attacks saying he needs to go to this school. The letter must be clear that the GP is giving his expert opinion, not just saying what you've told him. You would then have a reasonable chance of success.
