10YO seems mean to friends

My 10yo DD has lots of friends and people regularly invite her over, she's always been kind & caring and never really had any issues with friendships. However I've recently noticed she has been bickering more with her friends when they're over & gets frustrated if they're not doing things properly I.e. following baking instructions to the letter. Is it just their age? Her friends do seem to be the same and argue their point back but this is new territory for me. She's never mean or horrible but I have had to intervene sometimes & tell her it's just for fun. She's always been quite passive & I had been a bit worried about her starting high school that she wouldn't stick up for herself so I suppose you can't have it all ways! She's still a lovely girl but I'm not used to this & don't want her to start falling out with her friends now.

A few teachers have told me that they are seeing issues at schools with two main age groups 13/14 and 9/10. There are some theories that this is because of the timing of Covid lockdowns on these two groups.
For the younger girls, at your daughters age, their social development was stunted for this year or two (when they were at home with us!!!) and these are apparently important ages for developing skills like negotiation, group tasks etc.
This isnt an answer more an explanation of why. :)
