No mains water supply.
No electricity grid.
No mains gas.
No public transportation.
Possible extreme weather: snow, heatwave, flooding, hurricane.

As DH says, at the first wobble, we grab the bag. We also have supplies in the garage in the case that part of the house is inaccessible. I do think we need to stock the car and/or shed.

Do you have 3 gallons each? Plus more for any pets. I have fizzy water but not that much... I don't have enough rum. Sad

I'm not sure what gallons are, but we have about 40 litres of sparkling water between 2 adults and 2 small children. No pets.

3 litres of rum and 5 litres of mulled wine.

We would survive 72hrs :)

Blimey. That's a lot! You'll be fine. Grin Gold standard would be 45 litres but I think the rum more than makes up for the lack of water.

Maybe we just start with the rum, then we would forget 3 days, and wake up oblivious to any disaster? ( and two semi feral children)

Some kind of large hamster bottle for the kids. Should be fine.

Maybe should get a child size hamster wheel also, you know to keep them excercised whilst stuck inside

Just asked dh about water he says between the pond and the water butts we have loads. He has water purification tablets for a 100l if we can't boil it and we want one of those storage things that you open up and fill in the bath. Just filling the bath isn't great as you can't seal it. He also says we will stay put and like MrsTerry we have kit in the garage in case house is inaccessible. On a nice jolly note he just said choose now which furniture is going as he intends to trash some and chuck it on front lawn to make house look line it's been ransacked!

And I think there's some merit to that point of view. (The ransacked look.) Security is the big elephant in the room that no-one likes to talk about. Ask him at what point he makes that decision, though.
