First scan on Thursday

Hi all, I am currently 12+1 pregnant with number 3 and have my first scan on Thursday. I am looking forward to it but have a totally irrational fear that something will be wrong.
With the first two, my best friend's mum worked at a nearby hospital and arranged early scans but she has since retired. This is the first time I have had to wait the whole 12 weeks and I can't believe how nervous I feel. I have had some nausea but that seems to have eased now but I am very tired and my boobs are still sore, I have also gained weight around my middle. I have had no bleeding or cramps so I know that the chances are that everything is fine but I can't help but have this nagging doubt! Roll on Thurday...

Went for 20 week scan - all ok and its a boy. The man is over the moon. But still this sword hanging over my head though. Im being positive and going with the hospital scan dates - so baby should be b/f.

Cath - how did the scan go - everything ok?

Thanks everyone - I am thinking positiveley. I go for my second scan tomorrow (20 wks) so should find out the sex of the baby. The reason I asked when I conceived is that I did a stupid thing on 4 February (after a big fallout with bf) - theres no way it could be his could there??? Otherwise, wouldnt the hospital have given me an EDD later than the 22 October - they would have give me the 29 October. People tell me that the dating scan is very accurate and so I am going with that. I know tht the dates can be out by a few days. I dont know when I started my period in Jan but defo on period when I moved flat which was 19/20 Jan. God its so stressful - taking all the enjoyment out of being pregnant.

Hurrah Cath! You're now 'officially' pregnant!

twinkeltoes - you take approximately 2 weeks off how pregnant you are to find out when you ovulated & conceived.

cath476 - how did the scan go? I've got mine a week Monday, but paid to get an early scan as well as I thought I'd go mad waiting till 12/13 weeks!

That's fantastic! ! You can start to breathe a sigh of relief now. :-)
Twinkltoes, the date they give you should approximately tie in with the first day of yr last period (assuming you have a 28 day cycle). You'd have conceived anywhere from roughly 9 to 18 days later. Again if u have a 28 day cycle, it's usually 14 days later

twinkeltoes I would say you are/were 12+6 at the time of your scan. They would give you an exact date as they measure the baby so it is more accurate than going by your last period. If you go by the EXACT date they gave you, it would work out that you conceived around 15th Jan.
Hope that helps!

Hi, first time on here. Wondered if you could help me as Im really confused First baby and I had my first scan on April 15 and they said that the baby was 12 weeks + 6 days. Does that mean I conceived between 22 and 29 January? also is the baby actually 12weeks + 6 days or 10weeks +6 days, cause someone said you have to take off 2 weeks. I really need to know when little one was conceived. Hope you can help

Hi all - all fine on scan, baby was wriggling and had a clear heartbeat! Dated at 11 rather than 12 weeks but not surprised as my cycle is erratic! Hurray!

ugh, i had my scan last week, and I felt physically sick - and that was after having had 2 earlier scans...!!
I think if we want something so much, we're terrified something will be wrong. I'm sure it is all fine. Let us know how it goes. x

I understand where you're coming from. But the overwhelming probability is that everything will be fine. Good luck!

Good luck cath. Only 2 days to go - hope it goes quickly for you. Try not to worry, I'm sure it's normal to worry if you are used to having earlier scans, but 12 weeks is normal for most of us!
