I've heard that you can't eat it unless it is cooked in something. It is raw, and cured by smoking.

that was me too Megbusset - CC and SS bagel for lunch and tea everyday with DS2 - was all I wanted to eat. DS1 was cheese and pickle sandwiches - probably much safer. DC3 has been soup so far....

ate it every day when pregs with DS2 - couldn't get enough of the stuff which is weird cos couldn't go near fish with DS1 and also with current DC3 pregnany. Never did me any harm and he came out OK.

Grin - technically it is raw, but as it is smoked at at least 80 degrees, it is not 'raw raw', but smoked. On the Tesco packet it says 'does not contain raw fish', but Food Standards Agency is probably a better bet It is still frozen to get the parasites. Crumbs, I loved the stuff before typing that...

Smoked salmon is raw, hence the slight concern. But Food Standards Agency says the smoking process kills the beasties so all okay. And that as long as it's been foraen at some point it'll be fine. I'll find the link...

Americans are told they can't perhaps this is why you are questioning it? Did some research and apparently advice in UK is fine as long as from decent supermarket and within best before date (well obviously!).
