Hi guys,

Im 23 weeks and this morning i bent down to pick up DF's dirty socks (he is SO well and truely in the doghouse when he gets home!!) and i had a sudden really really sharp pain just below my ribs on the right hand side of my stomach. It really hurt and i could hardly breathe it was so sharp. I just stood there for 5 mins rubbing it and actually sweating (prob panic as well as pain!)

That was about 2 hours ago now and the sharpness went after 5 mins. Now its just a bit achey, and around my side and back too. Baby seems fine still wriggling away in there.

Does it sound like ligaments or something? I only bent down,i do that all the time with having a 3 year old! Im all anxious now and hoping someone can put my mind at rest Dont think i need to call midwife as im fine now. Anyone had anything similar?

Thanks for reading x

Oh thanks a lot guys! I never had it with DD just achey on the sides of bump. Gosh it was painful and im scared of it happening again now Also i thing baby has changed position as im feeling kicks higher up quite near to the painful area...very strange for me as DD was breech the whole way through so i have only ever felt kicks really low down! Maybe this is what caused the pain too as well as bending fast? No idea but thanks a lot for reassuring me.x

I had really bad ligament pains when I was pregnant and it is just as you described, a stabbing pain on the right side of your bump. If you are worried it is worth calling the midwife just to check. I found that a warm bath every day helped, if you can find the time with a 3 year old!

Hi ya

Yeah i get this all the time if i bend down or stand up too quickly. Its just like a stabbing pain which goes away when you rest and then you feel ok.
I was told by my midwife that its your ligaments moving and stretching and your bodies way of telling you to do things slower.

Hope this helps
