Symptoms of SPD??

Hello all. I am 22+6 with DC3 and have been having occasional but nasty twinges of pain from my pubis bone area / my lower back. Both previous DC had dodgy hips because I had too much 'softening' hormone in last pregnancy - not sure if this is relevant or not ? Should I be concerned that this might be SPD?

Or even Ding Dong

Oh p.s as Ding Ding says, keep it ladylike, my OB Physio told me to behave as if I had a short skirt and no knickers on at all times. That should tell you how to move.

Hi there, if it is SPD then it can take a while to get physio referral, I sped things up a bit by paying (about £40) to see an obstretric physio who ran a private local practice, who diagnosed me, my GP was then able to refer me ASAP for physio.

TBH, I find osteopathy much more effective as I get manipulation and relief, as opposed to sheets of excercises and not much hand on with NHS physio, it costs about £45 every fortnight but I'm now 30+5 PG and doing SO much better than on my first PG, when I had really painful SPD in the last few weeks, it's really worth it.

Thanks all for your wise words, will call MW in am to get advice and dig out body pillow which is languishing somewhere in airing cupboard I think. Remembering to be ladylike could be interesting

If its lower back it may be your sacro illiac (sp?) joint

This is my main problem area and its so bad that at times I can't weight bear and its excruiating. Whenever I had spd before it was more at the front.

There are varying degrees of severity.I had it with my 2nd pregnancy and it was horrid. But worse after. There are a few mums on here who have experienced it.I would definitely get checked out.My ds2 has a dodgy hip and ,as I am sure you know SPd,is linked with the extra hormones.Things like vacuuming, and turning over in bed,and waling too much and crossing legs, going upstairs etc can be incredibly painful. Also pushing prams, trolleys etc.Can feel ok at time but painful after,or be painful at the time.Advice is generally to pace yourself/avoid these sort of tasks[which is fine if you have help and no dc's!]Also you may be given a support belt and there is physio you can do.Do get checked out.Good LUCK.
