Anyone else got terrible headaches?

I am 6.2 weeks and have been suffering really bad headaches for a few days. Usually when I have a headache it is a good sign I am dehydrated, but I am drinking quite a lot and it is not helping. This started around the time that the nausea kicked in, so are the two possibly related?

I myself am constantly getting headaches!! I thank the days when I don't have one!!

I always make sure that I have some paracetomol at hand! If I get too hot or I get thirsty I get headaches.

I also get headaches if I try and have a ly in on the weekend! If I sleep over my normal waking time I get a headache for the rest of the day its awful.

I think this is something we have to put up with in pregnancy!!

Hi littlelamb - there was a thread about this recently I think which you might still be able to find. I had horrible headaches which lasted the extent of my morning sickness. Avoiding getting heartrate up, and not wearing anything on my head or tying my hair up helped. (a bit) Also I avoided paracetamol and only took it when it was unbearable but since then have had a look at the safety of paracetamol and it is supposed to be quite safe. Hope it gets better.

Hi littlelamb, I had headaches too around the same time in my pregnancy. For me, it turned out to be caffiene - I had a real craving for coka-cola (and still have!) and it was this that was setting off the headaches.

I know they are awful and I used to wake up some days with one and got really annoyed with them! Mine tapered off as the pregnancy went on though (think from about 4-5 months and I've not had another one so far even after indulging in the odd coke!)

congrats on your pregnancy littlelamb

sorry to hear about the headaches. I too suffered from headaches for the first 3 months (am now nearly 15 weeks), they have eased off now - but still get them late in the evening if I don't go to bed early enough (9pm!!!). Drinking lots of water didn't really help too much (although as others have said - made them worse if I was dehydrated). I think it is a hormone thing (although dh told me it was withdrawall from alcohol and coffee ! - cheeky bugger ).

Anyway - hopefully they are ok enough to be bearable and start to disappear around the 12 week mark ... good luck for your pregnancy and put your feet up (when at all possible!)

I too have had terrible headaches in first trimester of my pregnancies, this is a very common complaint. However, accupuncture has worked for me every time. My first pregnancy it worked after 1st session, 2nd pregnancy took either 2 or 3 sessions. I'm now on my 4th pregnancy and it started again around 6 weeks, I'm doing accupuncture anyway and when I mentioned the headaches she did these points again and it has stopped completely. I really swear by it and it honestly doesn't hurt. May be worth a try?

Poor litlelamb
I have suffered with headaches in all my pg's (now in my 3rd). Have never had high blood pressure so it isn't that, and I TRY to drink lots of water. The headaches are definately (and understandably!) worse if I don't drink enough, but I still get them anyway.
I suppose there is a chance you could be starting a cold or something, and that the headaches will go when the cold goes.
Otherwise, look after yourself, keep up the water, have paracetamol at hand, get a good nights sleep and some fresh air each day.

I have suffered a severe headache now for almost 3 weeks and despite various checks, the hospital claim they can't do anything for me. I have high blood pressure which is causing the headaches but they refuse to give me any meds for it as there are no signs of pre-eclampsia. It's very frustrating as it has caused me to be off work for 3 weeks now.

Hi Littlelamb, so glad to hear evrything is going well. I know that for the second month of my pg I had terrible headaches, probably due to the amount of hormones floating around. Mine eased off by the third month
