Taking aspirin?

Hi everyone. I am looking for some advice. I have had 2 miscarriages and so have not had any tests as yet such as those offered by a recurrent miscarriage clinic. I have read that 75mg of aspirin can help in the case of recurrent miscarriages. I am now pregnant again and wondering whether to take it. I have no known condition that says i should but feel i need to try everything i can this time around. Would you? Have you? Any thoughts would be appreciated please

There's no definite evidence it prevents miscarriage unless you have clotting issues (which tend to only be investigated after more than 3) but I was told it does increase blood flow/ formation of blood vessels in the placenta and controls preeclampsia. The sad thing is that the majority of mc are due to an issue with the foetus's dna. It's very difficult and I'm sorry for your losses. I had two mc before this pregnancy.

I was originally told to take it as my first had a small placenta and iugr; however they've since found again no definite evidence but being 40/41 all hcps were encouraging despite me basically putting my self on it at 5 weeks. It didn't prevent my second mc.

What I was told by a consultant was that it's best taken in the evening and I've since found the research on that. He also said 150 was better but I not sure what for - possibly preeclampsia.

I did this after two miscarriages. I took 75mg daily up until 12 weeks and my daughter is now 6 months old. My GP was aware and said it was up to me but she also said that it used to be a fairly common treatment option in her previous job in obstetrics. Best of luck to you x

Esp when they're 99p for 28 in Superdrug, no prescription needed.

Similar to Clare, my midwife believes that all pregnant women will be advised to take low dose aspirin within the next few years. I’ve been on 150mg since early on in pregnancy and all is fine. Just be sure to tell any hcp that you’re taking it as it can make you bleed more so good to know for blood tests etc..

Thank you. GP said it was pretty much my choice. They dont recommend it because the guidelines talk about treatment for certain conditions. I just think I'd kick myself if i didnt try all i could

I take 75mg a day because of how beneficial it can be, especially during pregnancy. Doctor talked me through the pros, there are no cons. Researched myself and decided to go for it

I'm taking it because I'm a first time mum. Recommended by my registrar at twin clinic. She gets all first time mums to take it and said basically everyone be man or woman should take baby aspirin once a day as there are loads of good side effects and no bad ones. So if I was you I'd take it.
