Forgetting folic acid

Hi guys,

Really worried as now 11 weeks pregnant and have missed a lot of folic acid tablets- the ones I have are supposed to be taken after your main meal and I keep forgetting until the next morning or when I wake up in the middle of the night. Really concerned as I know baby's neural tube should be closed by now and any damage has been done- any one got any reassuring anecdotes?

Thanks x

Also that spina bifida statistic is also ridiculous - saying it's down to increased folic acid intake is anecdotal as there have been no long term large studies on it. It could also be down to changes in diet or exercise or literally anything.

In the west, the reduction of neural tube defects It’s down to greater folic acid intake and overall improved maternal health due to spacing out of pregnancies. But you only have to look further afield to see how huge the benefits of folic acid are.

In India for example I have seen first hand, in my own family, the benefits of maternal supplementation. All of a sudden several cousins who kept having stillbirths (and losing) babies due to neural tube defects, started giving birth to healthy babies.
