Work chair- are my employers playing fair?

Okay so I've been off sick this week so far due to a really bad back, been to the docs and had urine tests and some blood tests today but they are pretty certain it's just baby stretching my muscles and putting a lot of pressure on my small frame (I'm 23 weeks).
Anyway, I really get on well with my line manager and have kept her up to date with everything and I will say she has been nothing but lovely.
The problem I'm currently having- and I'm not sure if I'm right or wrong for feeling this way- is that I've suffered with a bad back for a few weeks now and all last week when at work I was really uncomfortable and my work chair was making things so much worse (I'm sure it's the cause of my back being so bad!). Then, in my risk assessment that was only carried out last week (is that right???!!!) my manager mentioned to me she's going to get me a new chair ASAP as she can see how much pain I'm in atm with current one.
Anyway, I had a really bad weekend with my back and ended up calling in sick yday and today. She was so understanding and lovely so my problem isn't there at all.
My problem is that tonight when I've given my manager an update over messages about what doctors have said and asked if my new chair is there for me yet she replied saying no but she will chase it tomorrow (can't have ordered it yet!!) but would unofficially advise me to take the next few days off if I can (I only work 4 days a week) as I will only be in pain if I come in. That's all good and well but I don't get paid for time off and would have come back if my new chair and back support was there!!!!!
AIBU in feeling as though I have no choice here? I feel a bit peed off that they haven't arranged this and I'm now losing out on another days pay. I'll get paid for 4th day which isn't so bad.

I don't know if it's just my hormones getting the better of me and me feeling sorry for myself.
What do you guys think?

Thanks ladies all advise taken on board!

I've worked from home a few times in the past so that's such a good call that I will discuss when I return.

Ah yes my manager is just sooo lovely, we sit directly opposite each other and keep each other smiling on stressful days lol.

My employer purchased a coccyx memory foam pillow for me following my pregnancy assessment and it was great.

If your work chair meets h and s guidelines then your employer is not obliged to order you one. I do have a chair that my employer ordered for me and it took 6 weeks to arrive. Get a referral to a maternity physio to see if they can help. I was advised by mine to get a towel, roll it up and put it behind me to provide support.

Are you in any position to do some home working in the meantime?

How was the chair chosen? Did you have an assessment or try another one out - just thinking a new one might be no better

Your line manager sounds lovely

But a 'back friend' and charge the company!

Oo that sounds interesting I'll definitely have a look into it thank you.

I sound like a right whinge pot! I just feel stuck in between a rock and a hard place as I'm a manager myself and would hate to look as though I'm trying to be awkward (although I honestly haven't said a word about my feeling a bit peed off to them) and as though they would expect better of me.

Think I might just be getting worked up because I'm so miserable with this flipping pain. Need to take a chill pill lol.

It’s a rubbish situation but I don’t see hoe your employer has done anything wrong.
In fact they’ve been more accommodating than a lot might be.

Is there any way you can unofficially work from home for one day?

Coccyx memory foam pillow is amazing. After my spinal surgery it took my work 6 months to order a new chair and another 2 months for it to arrive. If it's ordered from a reputable seller they will come and 'fit' you in the new chair

I've honestly tried all I can with it. It's got an arched back half way down and everyone complains about them, not just me in pregnancy although it has obviously got worse since falling.
I've tried cushions, hot water bottles.. All I can think of.

What is it about the current chair? Can you temporarily mitigate it with cushions etc for eztra support until the new one comes??
