Anyone else pregnant with number 4?! 😲

As the title suggests, I have three already and yesterday found out that there's a fourth on the way.

Totally and utterly unplanned!!

I haven't told dp yet as he's away but I'm worried about how he's going to feel....

Anyone else pregnant with their fourth? Could do with someone to chat to before I burst!

Elves- my children were 3 and 2 when we told them but it was kind of by accident, as my bright and nosey eldest worked out that we were going for a baby scan (she must have overheard something).

Because our children are that bit older now, I'd like to tell them in a memorable way Smile hopefully waiting til after the 12 week scan as long as nobody puts their foot in it!

Congratulations Lumpy and Flowa! It is very nice to hear your experience with number 4, Steph. Fingers crossed all our babies follow suit!
My twins are only 2 and I'm not organised enough to get rid of stuff quickly.
How old were your DC and when did you tell them Brutus?

He will be off for a week and then play it by ear. His work is quite flexible so will be able to pop home if needed and it will soon be Christmas so will have a bit of time then!
It will all be fine in the end!

We have nothing either, Need. Got rid of everything with complete joy that we were done with all that. Hmm.

Ah well, think it might be fun to go shopping all over again though will really REALLY have to scrimp and save/beg/borrow etc!

I'm jealous of your stash of baby clothes @Elves, we've got rid of everything as the others got older, starting again completely from scratch - with the exception of the birth pool, and a rainbow fleece sling!
How frustrating that your secret has been shared so widely by someone who really isn't involved in it at all - yes, our secret has been blown but I was the blonde idiot who did that by asking on the Blood donor's FB page if I could still give blood!!! Didn't take long to be spotted by people who didn't know. Doh!
Congratulations @Royalsteph, glad everything went well for you :)

DC4 was born on 25 Nov 15 days early Weighing 6lb 13oz. She has slotted right in to family life. She is by far the most chilled out of all my kids. (also the easiest/best labour despite induction)

PS Lumpy, will you have any help with children whilst recovering from section? How long will your husband be off work?

Ah Lumpy! That's quite exciting! Scary, too; completely understand that. We've had a tough day with our kids today which makes us both think "omg, htf are we going to cope??!!" Agh. I feel like crap, too.

Elves- I know what you mean re: keeping it from your kids as long as poss. With my third we found out gender in order to prepare our kids for brother/sister. Will definitely do the same this time!

How is everyone else? Flowers

My number 4 will be here early next week!!!
I am quite anxious - about the ELCS, the recovery and then just looking after 4 kids being sleep deprived!!! My toddlers will still go to childcare twice per week so that should help.
I just keep on telling myself it will be OK - it will have to be!!!

I've booked a private scan for 16 weeks. I don't really care if it is a boy or girl but I would like to start sorting out the ridiculous amount of baby clothes we have amassed. I also think I need to be prepared for someone telling DC1 or saying something in front of her. I haven't told her yet because we thought the longer we don't tell them, the shorter the wait until baby arrives.

Nothing overtly negative to my face. But I've noticed that people with young children are surprised(and think we are mad) but I've had a lot of comments from friends and relatives who are over 65 who said they wish they had more kids when they had the chance. I had a woman in her 80s stop me in a shop with my double buggy and a buggy board and said when I am her age it would all be worth it. So I'm hanging on to that.

Hi Need, I'm 7 weeks now. My boss was just talking about my future at the place where I work; what I can take on/manage etc etc and I don't think I was as enthusiastic in my responses as I could have been, because....I'm not even going to be able to see out the school year. I'm so worried about telling them!

Elves, omg! How annoying! Have you had any less-than-positive responses? Hope not!

I really want to book an early scan but thinking we shouldn't spend the money......🤔

Hi! Well our secret is out. DH mentioned it randomly to someone we don't really know and it has spread like wildfire. I'm slightly annoyed as I'm almost 16 weeks and I'm pretty sure if he hadn't said anything I would have made it to my 20 week scan. But hey ho....

How are you feeling now Brutus? Congrats Need on number 5! How far along is everyone?

Needmorehands · 30/11/2017 19:18

Hi Brutus, glad your DH is looking after you nicely
4 is fun, but busy - unsurprisingly! Number 5 will have to slot in a nap in the pram on the school run like number 4 quickly learnt to!
How far on are you now?

Hi again all! This thread had fallen down to about page 6 and took a while to find! Just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing.

I've had a few wobbles. I'm pleased to say, though, that dp has come round and is looking after me and being so positive about the whole thing! That really helps. Hope you're all well Flowers

Need - congratulations!! What's it like having 4?! Hopefully your fifth will slot in nicely Smile

Hi, late to the party but I am expecting number 5 - with a 6yr break between 5 and 6!
I was also v nervous of telling DH, who surprised me by getting his head around the idea quicker than I did! I'm now 15 weeks and gettign used to the idea, I've enjoyed reading you being excited - its helped me to realise this is a good thing even if a shock! Thank you

Me! We planned for our 4th and got pregnant fairly quick. When baby is here I'll have a 10, 6 and 3 year old. Mega excited due in June. Not told anyone except dh. Scan is 14 Dec so would love to hold out until then and share our news. Usually I've told my family at 4 or 5 weeks haha. I have had horrendous sickness so it's been hard not telling anyone. And I'm feeling sorry for myself.
I suffered terrible spd with all babies and each got worse so really dreading that kicking in.
My family will be a bit disappointed I'm sure as I always made sure they knew we wanted 4 but I would get negative responses haha

Development: It seems dp has accepted/is even slightly happy/excited about number 4- woo!
