Symptoms of being pregnant

Hi. I was just wondering if people could share their experiences with me? My DH and I have just this month started TTC. Do you always get symptoms if you fall pregnant or are there people out there who have only found out they were pregnant when they took the test at the end of their cycle?

Just wondering as AF is due next weekend and so far I feel normal.

See, I knew I was pregnant. The only PMT symptom I get is cramps and headaches. All my pregnancies (1 live birth, 2 MC and currently 20 weeks pg), my boobs were so painful which I don't actually get with my periods and I would get extremely painful cramps after DTD. With that in mind, both these "symptoms" prompted me to test and get my BFP, so I wasn't overly early when I got them. (Periods aren't regular)
Not everyone is the same, some people get them some don't.

I actually started feeling sick and couldn't face an Xmas meal and it continued from there - I just knew I was pregnant and had to try and hide it over Christmas and not drink. I tested on the date of my period, by which time my breasts were even more tender and swollen than they'd usually be on the approach to my period. I guess my hormones had well and truly kicked in as I didn't have the wait for my testing kit to change colour, it did it within seconds.

Got 'pregnancy' symptoms from one week before AF due every single month (for almost a year).... apart from the one I actually got pregnant on. Try not to test until you're a few days late too. And buy cheap 3-for-a-quid tests from Poundland, they do the job. Wasn't till I was a week late that there was a line that other people could see as well as me. Good luck, and try not to stress. After week five I felt like my boobs were filled with broken glass, and the pain of someone lightly brushing against them was unimaginable. Week 6 to 14 bought horrible horrible morning all day sickness.

Hi all

Thanks for sharing your experiences. At present I'm just gong to chill and see what happens. Best of luck to those who are still trying.

I've been pregnant twice since we started trying this time (2x miscarriages sadly) and with the first one I had these really strong symptoms in terms of "stretching" feelings in my womb area and absolutely agonising boobs. The night before I got my first BFP I couldn't lie on my front they were so painful and I found it difficult even to walk around! I don't even usually have to wear a bra so was very unusual for me and sure enough I got a positive.

Second time I had no symptoms except for tiredness which could have been down to anything.

Several months since then I've had times where I felt absolutely convinced that I must be pregnant based on symptoms but nothing. So I think it's totally random, the very early symptoms are caused by an increase in progesterone just as you get when you're coming on your period, so it's impossible to tell.

If you want to track for fun I found the website countdowntopregnancy.com to be quite good and comprehensive, you can compare symptoms from the same day in previous cycles too which is always fun. Unfortunately we've now been trying so long I got bored of things like that but you might find it passes the time Grin

I had symptoms really quickly, the reason I know is that I had had several miscarriages (5), so had been tracking my cycles carefully when TTC. We DTD when ovaluation was preducted on ovaluation stick, and I kid you not 6 days later, I was being sick with terrible migraines. I thought I better not take any tablets just in case i was pregnant.

A day later I took a pregnancy test, as I was having terrible migraines and wanted to take pain killer. I got a really really faint line. The next day I took another test, the line was darker. This was the only pregnancy I had with such strong symptoms. Thankfully a successful one too.
I kept my diary electronically for my cycles through an app and recorded the symptoms. It was amazing as I just know I was pregnant a week before my missed Period as I felt so different.

With my first 3 pregnancies it was sore boobs and just 'feeling pregnant', sounds bizarre but I just knew.

This time round I really had no symptoms other than normal premenstrual type feelings. I tested purely as a formality before AF was due expecting to see a BFN but it was positive - Twins too Grin

The first thing I noticed, a week before my period was due....increased smell like you just wouldn't believe, and it got worse, to the point where EVERYTHING that had a moderate to strong smell made me sick...and who knew tap water had a smell, it reached its peak at about 10 weeks, and never went back to normal til I gave birth

Sort of fluey!

That's spooky Cailleach!
When I was first pg I had extremely itchy nipples and then a spotty chin followed by a kind of viral like illness, sort of flues. Then I went off coffee, and became ravenously hungry for dairy products. Philadelphia cream cheese and raspberry jam on biscuits( Marie) and cheese and Branston pickle crusty bread rolls.

None at all, maybe a bit cranky. No sickness whatsoever with all 3 of them. I'm lucky!!

It was my OH that noticed I was pregnant with our first.
We were having a hug in the kitchen when he jumped back and said "Oh god you have a baby inside you".

I was 15 weeks and hadn't noticed a thing.

The symptom that clued me in was a high temperature before BFP, and around when I was due on the sore boobs started.

I felt bloated just before, then my tits felt like they'd been slammed in a car door!

I didn't get any thing proper until 6-7 weeks but looking back I was a bit gassy (as in burping a lot) in the earlier weeks

I thought I was pregnant because my symotoms I get before coming on weren't there (spotty chin) or were different. The main pregnancy symptoms didn't really kick in for me till a couple of weeks later though.

I actually know someone who had no idea she was pregnant till she was in labour, she definitely didn't get any symotoms!

With both of my pregnancies, prior to AF, I felt like I was about to get a cold but never did. I had a mild sore throat and a stuffy nose, that would come and go for about a week but never amount to anything.
However, I would feel pretty much normal. The last time I got my BFP I was convinced I wasn't pregnant.

The more classic pregnancy symptoms like nausea and food aversions only happen to me around week 6.

No symptoms until I was about 6-7 weeks. Nausea and massive boobs. Other than that I just felt like I was getting my period. Didn't get a bfp until I was 6 days overdue.

Yes, at 10dpo I went off beer and coffee and my sense of smell got much more sensitive. I did think I was just symptom spotting as it was the first month TTC but nope!

I didn't have any symptoms until week 5 ish
Starting off small but gradually getting worse

But I did feel something off before BFP
I went off beer on the day AF was due (2days before I tested)
Opened a bottle to join my husband one evening and could only drink about 1/4 before handing it to him to finish
I noticed my wee was different too that week (not sure how to describe it strange colour, kinda cloudy?!) and only put it down to being possibly pregnancy related after I tested.

3 days before I tested I was alseep on the sofa all afternoon, I could not for the life of me get up. it was like jet lag! Then I had really dark nipples. That was with DC2. When trying for DC1 I had read about symptoms and was getting cramps the day before AF was due and I was convinced I was pregnant, but turned out to be AF the next day, I was at work and cried in the toilets! I still kept POS multiple times with all of my pregnancies though, it got a bit obsessive. So its all very well me saying try not to symptom spot and just wait until you've missed your period but I did not practice what I preach!

When I conceived I had zero symptoms for several weeks. Only knew cos got bfp on testing, but as we were ttc I was doing ovulation tracking etc so tested as early as I could for many months lol. But was about 6/7 weeks before I felt anything. Only one thing I did notice was a lack of AF symptoms, by that I mean pre AF I always got very sore boobs but month I got my bfp they were not.

Good luck.
