...what did you do to fill the time?

Im 2 days overdue with no sign of the baby arriving any time soon. All baby stuff is ready, washed, etc. Driving is becoming difficult so the furthest I want to drive is up to my parents about a mile away. If I overdo it, I end up with a bad back and my belly becomes extremely tender/sore so even though I'd love to so things like start repainting our bathroom, it's probably not a good idea. Only moved in a few weeks ago so deep cleaning done then. I might go for a little walk later as weather seems a bit better today.

I'm watching some TV but getting a bit fed up of just sitting here. I want to do something to fill the days when DP is in work but don't know what. My friends are either in work or college. People keep telling me to enjoy the peace and quiet before baby arrives which I can understand but getting bad cabin fever.

Having a sweep at the beginning of next week so hopefully it works. DP is off this weekend so we're going to sort some boxes out and get out for a bit.

I'm rambling...any ideas on what I can do to fill the time? It's only 9.30 and I'm booooored already.

Go and get a pedicure and see a podiatrist.

Little walk to newsagents and stock up on mags - sensible ones and trashy - you could always take them in your hospital bag if things change.

I did lots of baking, walking the dog, listening to my hypnobirthing CD, seeing friends, having long hot baths, and lots and lots of waiting around moaning!

Mine were 11, 13 and 15 days over

I just went for lots of walks, walked to the shops and picked up little bits like first aid kit, snacks for the hospital bag. I also went out with DH for lunch on a few of the days. Napped, read books, I was signed off at 32 weeks, so had quite a lot of time to be incredibly bored. I also pottered around in the garden and generally annoyed as many people as I can.

I got very bored and quite emotional towards the end - DH came home at 41+4 to find me bouncing on my ball, watching Call the Midwife (NOT suitable when feeling hormonal and delicate!) and sobbing.

Tried to go out for a walk every day, napped quite a lot, did yoga, ate ice cream (it was September). Was induced at 42 weeks and delivered the same day.

Thanks for the replies so far. I'm making myself a nice cup of tea then going to stick some music on to jig around to (Black Stone Cherry or Foo Fighters ) then going to organise the freezer, will walk to local shop to pick up some magazines for hospital bag or bath then have some lunch so that should be the morning sorted.

Weekend is okay as got plans with DP. Monday morning I'm having a sweep then will see how I feel. If I'm okay afterwards, I'll push myself to go for a coffee in the afternoon. I'm also going to ring a local mobile beauty therapist later about the possibility of a pedicure for Tuesday as I love my nails done but can no longer reach my feet!

Already feeling a bit better :)

I've realised I'm actually just looking for distractions from every little niggle, thinking 'could this be it?!' and ignoring my phone from the constant 'Any news yet????' Messages!

I was two weeks late. Longest two weeks ever. I walked,walked and walked some more. Ended up being induced but had a fast labour .

Yes to getting a pedicure and long hot baths. I loved having huge bubble baths at any time of day with a nice book/iPhone to read.

Just try to be relaxed as possible I hope baby doesn't keep you waiting too much longer!

I was 2 weeks late and I think all the waiting around added to the stress and anxiety I experienced around the birth.

If i ever have more kids I'm going to get into the mindset of a 42 week pregnancy right from the off and I'll tell folk that my due date is the 42 week date.

In terms of stuff to do now that you might not find the time to do for a few weeks/months after the birth:

baths (if you can get in/out of one that is!),
any kind of life admin that involves a bit of research (e.g. insurance renewals, remortgaging, getting your paints picked out for your bathroom)
hairdressers
batch cooking

Yes, batch cooking is a great way to spend the last few days of your pregnancy. Stock up on nutritious, filling meals to see you through those days when making something seems impossible.

4 days overdue here. House hasn't been this clean since DC1 came along Agree with all of the above plus I've had beauty treatments and gone on solo cinema visits. Hope baby arrives soon!

It's my due date tomorrow and I'm anticipating a difficult week trying to stay patient and occupied!

My plan is:

lots of naps
pedicure and leg wax (my legs are covered in stretch marks so they're still going to look awful but I'm hoping slightly less awful without hair!)
online shopping (we've bought most of the things we need but there are still a few things I'd like for the baby and house)
tidying/organising... I have a pile of paperwork, a bag of presents, and a box of miscellaneous stuff to sort out and tidy away (been putting this off for ages!)
MAYBE going for a maternity bra fitting... not sure about this because my boobs are likely to change and the size might turn out to be wrong
if I can be bothered (unlikely!) might go to the pool... I might even swim, but mainly it would be to float around in the water and relax in the spa pool (there's one which isn't too hot)
go for lunch with DH

15 days late - I just played with my other children and went quietly insane.... tried to think of one thing each day to get me out of the house! It was the nights that were the worst I couldn't sleep at all!

The day after my due date I went out for a chinese with a big group of friends (had intentionally waited til the day before adding myself on or not). Ate masses of food then we all went to the pub across the road and danced. I only managed til 10pm. Contractiosn started the next morning at 4am!!

I walked round town with a computer in a large box. Carried 15kg of shopping on each arm. The computer was what did it. It finally brought things on after 2 weeks of trying.

Oh and I agree with PPs' suggestions of:

batch cooking
doing research for anything that's due for renewal e.g. car/home insurance, phone contract, utilities, etc

And if you have any family or close friends with birthdays coming up in the next few months, you could get their presents now, it will save you having to do it when baby is here.

I'm due tomorrow but honestly don't feel like leaving the house even though I should be making the most of it. Have a 2 yr old DS so I'm just tired constantly. I've been so restless and irritable the last 2 days which I hope is a sign baby is on its way. Most I'll be doing is finishing The Crown on Netflix.

Ate. Don't do that. I put on too much weight. Walk, read, practice hypno birthing and yoga. Don't graze for 2 weeks like it did!

Get bouncing on that birthing ball, drinking rasberry leaf tea and eating pineapples!
Seriously your day sounds amazing to me. I'm 32 weeks with #4 and I'd love a day off just to read in peace and eat all the chocolate without sharing

Well, I finished work at 38 weeks and then went 8 days overdue so was glad I worked until relatively late on. I just enjoyed having time off work. Knew I was going to have a baby soon so made the most of my free time lounging around and meeting folk for coffee. What's not to like?!
