Undecided if I should get an early scan

Could anyone advise if it's worth getting an early scan?

So the reasons I'm unsure is that I'm worried I might find out something I don't want 2! The reason I do want to is because I want to check the baby is doing well.

I'm going to be 7 weeks on Friday so does anyone have any good advise? Xx

MouseLove it's all very confusing but like MmmMalbec says they might move you along next time they see you. Until then we'll just have to keep guessing 🤔

You might find it's grown quite a lot at your next scan Mouse and you're put further on again. It's very hard to measure accurately when it's so very very small!

I'm hoping to see bubs has grown loads in 2 weeks when I have my next scan. I'm still scratching my head as to when I could have conceived. Looking more and more likely it might be -5 or -3 before ovulation!! 😳

I'm just a bit in limbo at the moment as my apps all say "oh you're 8 weeks pregnant and baby is the size of a raspberry" and I'm sat here thinking erm, nope. 🤔

Bennie2009 so sorry to hear that! Sorry I can't be much help :(

Thanks MmmMalbec I guess I haven't got to long to wait! I did think I had read somewhere at 7/8 weeks the baby was anywhere from 9mm to 12mm x

They'll give you an official due date at your 12 week scan. Your measurements sound right to me. At 6 weeks mine was 3.7mm and by 7+1 weeks it was 9.5mm. They grow very fast!!

From the day I came off I did ovulation tests and never got a possitve really! I only got a near possitive on day 16 after coming off.. then it started to fade again, but you're right I could of ovulated way before I think.. when would I get a better idea? At the 12week scan? X

Amz I think you ovulated much earlier than you think. Possibly even in the first day or two off the pill. That's really common with certain BC. I think I ovulated around 13-15th December. My bubs is only 2mm. 😊😘

To be honest mouse I'm not really sure as I only came off the pill on the 1st December and never had a period or withdrawal bleed so hard to tell!! So from my last pill I would be 7+5 weeks but if it's from when I think I convinced then is 5+5 weeks.. I told the ultrasound lady this and she just said I was 7+5 by the size of the baby.. is he/she big then? X

So out of curiosity hun, did you calculate your due date based on conception or LMP? Your bubs is huge if it's from LMP. 🤓

Oh yeah wow you must of got a really early BFP! That's good you're getting another scan in 2 weeks, but I feel like the weeks are taking so long ATM 😩 I guess they can't be to sure of due date until we are a little further on in our pregnancy:)

I'm guessing they are still using my LMP which is 4th Sept until I officially scan. Remember my scans will be for health and growth reasons so I doubt they will tell me a definite due date. They said baby was measuring 2mm and 5-6 weeks from conception. But by LMP I'm 8 weeks today. I have a feeling my dates will be push to later in September when I have the next scan in 2 weeks. I must have been really early when I got my BFP on CD34!!!

newmum All went really well yesterday he/she is measuring at 12mm(so tiny) and they said they could see a really strong heartbeat:) It was very emotional 🙈 I thought I was 7+3 but I'm 7+5 so I was very close. Next appointment will be with the midwife on the 11th.. It's all just a big waiting game! X

LexieLulu It is Defo a good idea as I was very anxious even with this scan so hopefully I can enjoy my 12weeks scan now :)

Undecided if I should get an early scan

Ahh brilliant news MouseLove!
That's a shame LexieLulu. Emotions can be all over the place though. It's a crazy time! If there's a next time, you know what to do 😜

I wish I'd got one with both of my children, as when the day came for my 12w scan, I didn't enjoy it. I was in tears a lot, so nervous. I wish I'd enjoyed it more

Thanks newmum, sorry I forgot to update.
My scan went well. I had to have an internal as I bloody went to the loo just before they called me, talk about bad timing lol. But we saw baby's heartbeat and everything was lovely. I'm having another scan in 2 weeks just to make sure my meds are taking a good effect on baby's growth but dr very very happy with my perfect sack 😂 Very relieved after such a worrying time. X

Looks like the decision has been taken from my hands. I'm having an early scan on Saturday at 8am as my GP is concerned with my blood results. Basically I'm hyperthyroid and unmedicated and they want to make sure baby is growing as he should. The lack of symptoms and clearblue digital not progressing is enough of a worry.

Trying not to worry.

Personally my thoughts still point to, if you have no reason to worry, don't. I'd give everything to having a normal experience right now. X

I had an early scan mainly for reassurance as I was pretty confused as to why the doc wouldn't see me until 8 weeks. Im a FTM and thought the reason you notify them ASAP is to be seen ASAP. I'm glad I paid for a scan because it was such a surreal experience. They say they will refer you to the relevant people if they do find anything wrong. It IS a scary thing to do but a great experience at the same time. I'm glad I did it because the doc didn't even do a urine sample at my first appt which left me come away feeling a bit odd. Good luck whatever your decision. I definitely advise taking someone supportive in with you for the scan though. xX

1st pregnancy I didn't as DH didn't want us to spend the money, but this pregnancy I did and I was 7 weeks gone.

Obviously baby is very much Like a prawn at that stage and doesn't move either. But it's great to know that little life inside you is doing ok and exactly how far you are.

Personally I'd do it again.
