Pregnancy

Stairs and socks are the devils work

I just wish someone had warned me more about the psychological effects of pregnancy. A few years ago I ran a marathon- an achievement I am really proud of, this week (at 35 weeks) I can't even climb stairs. I think I'm finding the overall frustration the hardest to deal with. I feel so pathetic. How can such a normal task become like climbing Everest??

32 weeks here - I still have no problem going for a good swim or a decent walk, but putting my socks on in the morning... way more effort than it needs to be! Baby is right up under my ribs and isn't shy about announcing his displeasure with a flurry of kicks when I bend over.

I hate socks right now. I get a baby ass pressing against my ribs and stomach which makes me feel sick.
Sitting up in the bath after laying down in it is also a nightmare!

I thought same as kaymondo fell all the way down the stairs on Saturday with slippy socks on. Not again! Bruised face, knees and arm but 9 weeks pregnant and all that matters is fine!

Lol. I could have written this! I am only 22 weeks but walking uphill more than 2 minutes has become a battle. DH has taken to telling me that he is the one who needs a break to get me to stop and not keep going in defiance. Blush

Dreading the day when I wont be able to put on shoes.

I could have cried the other day when DH ran up the stairs...I was just so jealous that he is not a lumbering hippo and I am. I can't go anywhere remotely quickly and I "ooof" everyone I get out of a seat.

Thankfully I can still put my socks on Grin

The stairs are not too bad but socks are the devils work! I've copied my other halfs technique of putting them on (he has a bad back), which is sort of sideways! I'm 36 wks now, the Braxton Hicks are a killer and I dread having to bend over for any reason! I really hope baby isn't late!
You all have my sympathies! Flowers

Now careful ladies with your slippy socks. I just hate putting socks on and hate climbing stairs.

I thought the same kaymondo! I've had a few close calls on the stairs and have to be much more careful now.

I fell down the stairs the other week due to slippy socks so I thought you meant that! Clearly just me with the clumsiness BlushSmile

I thought you meant stairs and socks and I was going to say I spent the last month (two) of pregnancy ringing my husband upstairs to bring me socks down when he was passing.
I'm three weeks out the other side and the stairs are once again my friends.

That's what I thought. I was pretty fit before pregnancy and now I'm just a ready emotional whale. Scary thought is, I could actually have another 8 weeks of this - a thought which I am scared to even think about! Confused

Hahaha I'm so with you! And I'm only 25 weeks! Even a cut-down version of my "normal" daily activities is rendering me stupidly exhausted and having to lie on the sofa for days at a time - and I get out of breath taking my jeans off! I was doing 2+ hours of very dynamic yoga every day for 6.5 years before I was pregnant and now I am reduced to this - I would have thought I should be coping better than this??

It is very restrictive towards the end, and it's a never ending cycle of lying down and not wanting to lie down too long as your joints start aching then!

Ahh tell me about it. Tying shoe laces as well and I'm only 32 weeks!
It's normal but frustrating when you can't do things like you used to.
Not long now x
