Aching/painful ribs

How early do your ribs start to expand? I've been in pain for the last two days in my sides/front lower rib area.
I am 20+4

I get this! There are a couple of pregnancy yoga stretches you can do which really help. Some on YouTube if you can't get to a class. Smile

Also meant to say, I see my chiropractor on a fortnightly basis and he has made this pregnancy much more comfortable. He can get rid of the achy pain if I have it. He just keeps everything aligned and strong so my body can support this ever expanding bump! Thoroughly recommend a visit!

I agree with cowbiscuits.

Good sitting posture (actually, I try avoid sitting as much as possible).
I stretch out on my Pilates ball too, on my knees, stretching and rolling forwards with my hands, and then also to the sides.
Compressing the painful area with a hand or hands (usually husband is good at this) helps for a short period.
I also find deep slow breathing, really filling your abdomen with air and slowly exhaling can help sometimes, repeatedly for a few mins. Maybe as you are concentrating on the breathing technique your mind goes away from the rib pain? I dunno!

I'm a lefty too in terms of where most of the pain is. Started at about week 23, I'm now 29 +5 and still get it on a daily basis. Not expecting it to really disappear till the little one makes his/hers appearance!

Rib flare.

I get this. It fucking hurts sometimes, mine is always on the left. Can't remember when it started. You'll be pleased to know it gets worse.

The things that help me are:

Paracetamol
Sitting up straight (I'm terrible for slouching)
Avoiding large meals, especially late at night.
Lying down on the opposite side to the achy side, with a pillow supporting my bump.

Same here. I have had this from around 20 weeks, all on the left side. It's worse if I am sitting down and I bend over.

Pressing on the rib when it is sore alleviates the pain a little but sometimes I am rewarded with a swift kick!

Sorry can't be more helpful - I haven't found a solution other than not slouching and resting when possible.

Just sat here thinking the baby has also moved higher in the last few days too. Last week kicks were lower abdo area, now lots of movement just under belly button

Just commenting as I'd be interested in hearing anyone's experience of this! I'm 23 weeks but really struggling with an ache, specifically in the left side of my ribs.
