TMI- I can feel my baby's head in my vagina... it's weird. Does this mean the baby has dropped?

Sooo, dp and i were fooling around last night and he suddenly said that he could feel the LOs head moving around in there. Needless to say, that killed the mood, so i went and washed my hands and got a sterile glove and had a feel and he was right!
There is a definite hard round bit just above one of the bones in there, about 2 inches in and i could feel it turning and squirming. Has this always been in that position or has the baby 'dropped'? This is DS2 and i read that it doesn't usually happen until you're in labour with your second?
I also felt my cervix (we used FAM to conceive so i'm quite in tune with my cervix) and it was soft and i could easily fit two fingers into it. I lost my mucus plug about a week ago (clear, but hardish and 'together'), so is this possibly the start of things?
I keep reading different things about the mucus plug, i have a book that says it means that labour should be a few hours or days away, and lots of other places say it could be weeks yet.

Anyway, hope no one's eating their dinner while reading this. And thus concludes the weirdest thing i've ever typed....

And the prize for best thread title of the day goes to..!

My baby was head down from about 31 weeks and I could feel her head turning later on. I think it's true in some second pregnancies they don't engage til labour but its not a hard and fast rule. In your position I'd contact my community midwife for a check up.

chub sorry, i re-read it and thought i may not have made it clear and it may have come across that i was just in labour and being unbelievably dozy!

So the not dropping until you go into labour with your second is rubbish then?

My DD was grinding her head into my pelvis for weeks and weeks and weeks before she arrived...

Just read you are 36 weeks, phone the midwives as they may want to check you over.

I'm 36 weeks with no4 baby, and I too get that feeling somedays...
I've not felt up there, mainly because I'm not sure what to feel for... but, I haven't lost my mucus plug.
I would ring the labour ward just to be on the safe side...x

I had similar with dd2, also grinding her head down into my pelvis, went into labour 6 days later. Trial run for the real thing. Baby will make an appearance soon, but it doesn't necessarily mean it will happen today.

No I didn't think you meant the head was right there! But if you've lost your plug a few days ago and you're only 36 weeks I would be wanting some reassurance I am paranoid.

Just to be clear, baby's head is still in utero. When i say i can feel it, i mean i can feel it behind the wall of my vagina...

How far along are you?

I think you should ring the delivery suite. They may want you to come in, just to be looked over.
