So I'd been led to believe that solpadeine was ok (paracetamol & codeine) so long as in moderation.

Just found a ton of studies saying codeine linked to a big array of horrible birth defects??!!Confused

I've taken quite a bit in first 10 weeks of pregnancy as I suffer. Completely debilitating migraines & it's the only thing that vaguely touches them.

Now terrified I've damaged my baby ConfusedConfused

And what the heck do I do now about the migraines???

I was also prescribed codeine earlier in my pregnancy. Doctor refused to reissue prescription in third trimester though - like HadALittleFaithBaby says something to do with breathing problems.

I took 30mg codiene 4 times a day until about 34 weeks under the supervision of doctors to manage chronic pain. There is a risk and its worth mentioning it to midwife. I was seen by a paediatrician who put contingencies in place in case it affected my baby - main risks are breathing problems when they're born and withdrawal. The plan was to alert the trauma team on delivery in case she had breathing problems and we had to stay in for 48 hours after delivery to see if she was withdrawing. She was checked over by the neonatal practitioner.

I managed with the help of acupuncture to cut right down and hadn't taken any for a week before I went into labour. My baby is 17 days old and so far no signs of any ill effects and don't expect to see any :)

I think if its the only thing that manages your migraines and you think you need to keep taking it, it needs to be under medical supervision.

Well I know that doctors can prescribe it, because mine did with me for sciatica pain, although I am nearly 26wks. But I think its only advised if prescribed by the doctor, just book an appointment with gp and see what they say. R.e the migraines I suffer terrible with them, just paracetamol for now until u see g.p and plenty of fluids, not much else to do its abit rubbish xx
