Can anyone recommend a good brand of swaddling blankets, or are they all pretty similar?

Thanks ladies Smile

I'd vote for large muslin squares or until you get the hang of whizzing the into a decent swaddle BabyRug do a handy swaddle with velcro to guide you to swaddle properly... :)

I second lurcherlover, DC1 absolutely hated being swaddled and went apoplectic with rage. Use a very light blanket or large muslin cloth before shelling out on anything expensive.

Miracle blanket. U can buy at mother care. Basically it's a wrap that makes it so easy, and the babies can not get out of the swaddle so easy. My girl loved it. We would also use Aden and Anais. I love those Muslins. They r by far, the BEST!! However, when she got a month old she could wriggle out and then would wake. She slept better w miracle blanket bc she would stay wrapped. But we use Aden and Anais for so many things! We still use them and our baby is 14 months!

I'm another or Aden & anais. They are really big, which helped as I swaddled my DD until she was 8.5 months! I bought I'll price on amazon, but have seen them in TKMaxx, if you're not too bothered about the pattern x

Got some organic thin cotton material which I'm going to make into large squares. They can be used for everything and will be really useful for summer baby.

Both of mine hated it from day one. I'd use a blanket at first to see if they like it before buying a specific wrap.

I've got a swaddle wrap from the gro company (the company that makes the gro sleeping bags). I got it in tk maxx as it was much cheaper and if baby doesn't like it I haven't wasted too much money.

I heard something on the radio about being careful with swaddling as it has caused some hip problems, so I think as I don't trust myself to do it properly I will avoid this time.

The miracle blanket (google it!) is available from Mothercare and saved our sleep and sanity!

I splurged on gorgeous Aden&Anais ones and found some bright Faye&Lou ones at TKMaxx for a fraction! Don't actually know yet whether I'll actually be swaddling baybee- but they're great for all sorts of things and have washed really well - super soft!

I've always used a sheet or jersey blanket.

Someone has given me a swaddling wrap, so I'll be trying it out when I have mine, but I probably won't buy a spare.

I had one of these in blue from John lewis which was lovely but DS didn't like being swaddled at all.

Just to point out though that swaddling is an emerging risk factor for SIDS. I won't bother this time unless desperate!

Don't buy more than one until you find out if your dc finds it soothing. Mine hates being swaddled and wails inconsolably if we try it. Fortunately I only bought one wrap.

With DC1 i used a £4 shawl from Asda and he loved it.

With DC2 i reused that same shawl but she has always hated being swaddled as she likes to wiggle so at 7 weeks she's in a sleeping bag.

Although e were given 2 JJ Cole muslin blankets which would be excellent for swaddling in the summer as they are thin but we use them as a thin cover and comfort blanket, you can get a pack of 2 for £10 in my local TKMaxx.

I just used huge muslins from Aden $ Annais. They wash brilliantly and have about 1000 other uses!

I really liked our Summer SwaddleMe. It's not a blanket, but it was very easy to use and very light.
