If you don't mind me asking how long did it take you to get pregnant again following your miscarriage? I have just lost a baby and I'm curious about the average time frame for conceiving again. It took me almost 2 years for this pregnancy but I fell very easily with my first 2 8 and 9 years ago.

Thank you to everyone, I feel hopeful after reading real accounts of people's experiences. My bleeding stopped yesterday so the physical side at least is over. Now to get on with trying again xx

I'm so sorry.

I got pg again straight away. I didn't have a period in between and it was wise nnetters who told me to poas. In fact by the time I had my internal scan I was already pg again how do early it was in detected.

Sorry for your loss. I had à mc middle of February at 7 weeks. I'm now nearly 6 weeks pg (I think), so we conceived about 3 weeks after my mc. Good luck

Sorry for your loss OP.

I had an early MC in June last year, waited one cycle then got pregnant on first month of trying. I'm now 32 weeks.

I had a miscarriage at 11 weeks in July, I got pregnant again in September. I found it very hard to get myself excited about this pregnancy until after the due date had been and gone for the one I'd lost. It does feel little like this pregnancy hasn't been as exciting as if I'd let myself 'get over' the loss before getting pregnant again.

This time round, at my booking in appointment, the MW told me off for getting pregnant so soon and said this pregnancy was high risk as I hadn't given my body time to recover. I was seeing her on a Friday and the following day I'd already booked a private early scan at 8 weeks to just reassure me everything was ok. She told me that she'd wish I'd told her that beforehand as she'd have rearranged this booking in appointment until after the private scan "to be sure this isn't just a waste of everyone's time if you've lost it again".

thankfully, that midwife moved to another area and I've now got a lovely supportive midwife.

It took me 2 years to get pregnant - then I miscarried at about 7 weeks - got pregnant exactly a year later - exactly same due date - beautiful dd. Now pregnant again and the due date is the day I miscarried. All the very best - hope your dreams come true.

Sorry that you are going through this. I found it very tough when I miscarried last June. I am now holding my 4 day old son, conceived the first month of trying. I left it one month after having the ERPC before starting again. It took me 7 months to conceive DD1, 3 months with the miscarried one and 1 month with this one so it was the fastest. Wishing you the best of luck - I'm sure you won't be waiting long.

sorry for your loss. its a horrible time.

after DC1 i had a MMC at 11 weeks. i had an ERPC and then we waited 3 months to try again - we were recommended 12 wks by the hospital and tbh emotionally i couldnt have contemplated even trying.

however literally on the first attempt, i got pg with DC2 who is now 2 Smile. had a very nervous 12 wks waiting for scans and felt on edge all pregnancy but she was fine. happily i am now pg with DC3 and so far so good (27 wks).

i cant say that i dont think about it now, as i do often, and i will never forget. nor will i ever know why DC2 made it, or why this one has made it so far and the other one didnt. but i am so grateful that i have DC2 and she wouldnt be here if things had been different.

so good luck, as you can see there are lots of positive stories here - yours will hopefully come soon!

I'm sorry for your loss. Be kind to yourself and take your time. I couldn't even bear to think about DtD for about 6 weeks after my mc.

I miscarried in November at 6 weeks, so very early. Was told to wait two cycles but I think that was more a mental health than a health thing, and everyone on my mc thread was told something different. Waited one cycle and really glad I did as that first period was brutal. Ended up having to go out at lunchtime to buy a whole new bottom half of an outfit.

Used OPKs next cycle and glad I did as I ov'ed later than normal, but got pregnant. Like holidaysdistantmemory scan at 7w showed twins. I'm 17w now and trying to relax a bit. Some days it works, some days it doesn't. Good luck!

Ldt I'm so sorry for your loss. With time, your pain will ease. I won't pretend it's something you forget, but it does get easier. I lost my baby to a mmc last summer. We waited 3 months before trying again as I felt I needed to heal mentally and then I got extremely lucky and fell pregnant as soon as we started trying. I'm now 6 months pregnant with a healthy active LO who is kicking away as I type this message. So have faith that it will also work out for you.. It may take you 3 weeks to conceive or 3 months. Everyone is different but you will have a healthy pregnancy again. Sending you cyber hugs x

Sorry for your loss. I had a miscarriage at 6weeks and was told to wait until I had, had a period. We were very lucky in that I conceived the first month of trying. We conceived the first time also with my pregnancy that resulted in a miscarriage but know we were very lucky. Wish you well and know how hard it is, take care x

MMC at 14 weeks.
Didn't try the first month after mmc, didn't succeed in the second month, conceived in the third month.
Good luck.

Mmc at 12 weeks in the November, periods took a little while to come back but pregnant by the following march with dd who is now 16 months. She's my second though - so the Mmc was after I'd had DS. It was horrible (the mmc) - I remember feeling like my body was inadequate especially as it felt like loads of pregnant women around me.

Report
olivertheoctopus · 03/04/2013 20:53

I had 3 months between each of my first 4 pg's (mc'd first 3 after ttc for 9 months). Then two DS's then another mc and pg again within 3 months again. They do say you are more fertile in the 3 months post mc but not sure how scientific that is.

Would also add that I haven't really enjoyed this pregnancy at all as mmc really dented my confidence in my body's ability to carry a baby (even tho I had 2 healthy pregnancies and babies before so am an 'old timer' so to speak), almost like I didn't 'trust it' not to trick me again which would be discovered at a scan. I had my 20wk scan yesterday and have started to very slightly relax. But it has helped me to get over the baby I lost a little, tho will never forget it or the experience. Good luck, and hope it all works out for you x

Sorry for your mc. For me it was 2 months relaxing and coming to terms the 2 months ttc. All the best!

I had my mmc discovered at my 12 week scan in June (utterly brutal). I had an erpc (which was the best thing out of a horrible situation). On and off bleeding for 3 months. Started trying again in September. Pregnant December (discovered on my due date ironically). At 7 week scan, discovered twins! Yesterday at 20 week scan, discovered both girls. What a journey. Good luck x

Sorry for your loss op
I had a mmc picked up at 12 week scan, baby stopped growing at about 7 weeks. That would have been dc2. I then got pregnant again after 4 months of trying resulting in ds2. I've since had ds3 and am now 27 weeks with dc4. I know I am extremely lucky, I just wanted to let you know that having one miscarriage doesn't necessarily mean you will have any more. I know exactly what you mean about needing to be pregnant again to heal, I remember feeling like that too.
Good luck op, and take care
