Am 33+2 with dc2, with first pregnancy six years ago I never experienced braxton hicks and went two weeks overdue and had to be induced as a consequence, today I have been experiencing really hard tightening across the top of my bump and quite painful too, took some paracetamol for it an hour ago! Baby moving away so quite happy, but does this sound quite typical for braxton hicks?

Sounds like BH to me. Other things that can set them off - being outside when it is very cold, needing a wee, and stress.

I didn't want to just read your post and leave you :) It can be quite daunting when they get quite strong.

Thanks for your advice, they have settled down in last hour now I have sat down for a bit, was busy tidying dd1,s room/nesting today so probably what set them off.

Mine started at 34 weeks, my bump went hard and I had period type pains. I phoned my midwife from work in a panic to be told that it was completely normal. She told me that they should stop after I rested (which they usually did after awhile.) and also that they shouldn't become regular/closer together. If you are in any doubt it never harms to phone your midwife or the labour ward :)
