Just had 20 week scan which showed a girl after having two boys!

Can't believe that they told me it was a girl today! Didn't want to get my hopes up but really was hoping for a girl. Convinced after two boys that it would be a hat trick, but no! So chuffed I'll have a daughter to complete the family unit. For all those in a similar situation with similar posts, it can and does happen!

Ha ha learnermummy I don't think they really would have minded either way, they share a bedroom and are already as thick as thieves (they are just 5 and almost 3) I think it'll be nice for them to keep that little boy 'unit' and have a little sister to annoy!! So far there are no volounteers for room sharing!

19th! Are your boys excited? Think mine really wanted a brother but are now arguing over who will share their room with her Smile.

Congratulations katy! It's lovely to hear somebody so very delighted!Smile

I know just how you feel - I have DS1 aged 9 and DS2 almost 1, and I would love a little girl. DP and I are working on it!Wink Of course it doesn't mean that you (or I) think less of our little boys.

As if I wasn't already broody enough, this thread has really made me want to be pregnant again now!Smile

Thanks all. Yes I do agree FunnysInLaJardin when you are used to having more that one of the same sex you do begin to believe that you are the carrier of one gender, it certainly comes as a nice shock!

I do feel that many women are made to feel bad about wishing for one of either gender, why shouldn't they? It may have something to do with a relationship that they had with their Mum or any number of factors, it doesn't mean that these women don't love the children they have already got. My son's are the most precious things to me and I love boys, in fact a girl will be a different kettle of fish entirely! I'm damned if I'm going to feel bad for wanting a little girl!!

Some may think it may be questionable to keep having many children in order to get the gender they want, which is different IMHO to being happy to have a girl to add to two boys. I expect that people with such a high opinion on others family units probably have just as strong a reaction to other areas, the trouble is they don't see how damaging it may be to those more vunerable.

Awww congratulations katy how lovely, so happy for you. I've 2 boys and pregnant with my 3rd, also think boy, not botherd either way but a girl would be lovely cause it would be the first girl born into OH family. Doesn't bother me though.

P.s ignore the comment from a rude person, which there was actually no need for, were not all like that :) good luck with the rest of your pregnancy :) xx

lovely news for you. I have 2 boys and while I am not having another I know if I did conceive a girl I would be esp thrilled. I am convinced I can only carry boys!

In defence of puffpants I think perhaps she wanted to make sure it was not being said that if Katy had been having a boy, she would be less happy (or perhaps not announcing it in the same way) and in the same vein the inference that it is 'better' to have a child of each sex.

I don't think that Katy was saying that, but just trying to guess what puffpants was thinking.

Congrats Op brilliant news.

I had 2 dss now 21 and 18 then many years later dd age 9.

Its so nice to not be the only femele in the house anymore, we get on great and are friends as well as mum and daughter.
My problem and still is really. I spend so much money on clothes for her, although will admit they are more expensive than boys. Even their hobbies cost twice as much, lol.
Ah, wonderful and if you like pink go for it. My dd is very dark and only suits very bright pink, but she wears it occassionally.

Thanks all.

TBH I would have said it completed my family unit either way as I want to stop at three children!! Isn't it funny how some people seem to read into things in their own 'special' way?!
