Anyone else here around 38 weeks?

I know there is a last week or two of pregnancy thread but it's got to the super long stage making it hard to get into hence me starting this thread.

Currently 38+1 weeks pregnant with my first DC and DESPERATE to meet my baby now. Actually I'm probably not desperate - I think I will truly understand the meaning of that word if I go overdue. But I really don't want that to happen!

Trying to keep active and walking loads plus swimming when I get the opportunity. Bouncing on my ball occasionally and taking raspberry leaf capsules to limber up the old uterus. These seem to be giving me Braxton Hicks though as I've noticed them a lot in the last couple of days since I've been taking the capsules.

Struggling to sleep, feeling very achey in pelvis and getting period like pains (have been for a week or so now, but very mild!)

How's everyone else at this stage doing?

I'm 38+5 and been having a lot of poos the last 2 weeks, baby's been head down ready for around 2 weeks now, had none/ haven't noticed any braxon hicks, getting a few twinges down below, low backache and had abit of a cold past couple of days, needing to wee a lot, pooing around 3-4 times a day, and feeling tired a lot, is this sign of labour coming soon or?

Hi all,
Just an update - Baby MB34 was born on Saturday 24th Nov (at 41+4) at 12.29pm, 8lb 2oz. It was a straight forward vaginal birth, 10hrs from first contraction to him being delivered.
However, had a massive bleed with clots straight after - lost half the blood in my body - had emergency operation and blood transfusion and only now been allowed home from hospital. Despite all that - he's worth everything and more that I went through! :-)

Welcome to all you newbies to this thread - hope you don't have to wait to long to meet your babies and that everything goes smoothly for you.

Hey girls. I'm 38 weeks today, praying in my atheist way that DS2 doesn't arrive in the next few days as we've had quite a couple of weeks of it: DS1 (who's nearly 3) caught a coldy-fevery-virusy thing. Then, when it looked like he was on the mend, he suddenly started complaining of sore legs and waking up ALL BLOODY NIGHT. It got worse and he was just lethargic, tearful and couldn't stand up or walk at all. Really scary. A few hospital visits later and it turned out to be a post-viral hip thing called transient synovitis. Phew. He's started walking again now but is still quite hard work and keeps waking at night. And to top it all, I've caught the cold thing and feel like s**t.

I gave birth to DS1 when I had a heavy cold and really really hope that doesn't happen again. Legs crossed, no sex, lots of handstands.

Can i join too please? 38+5 today, saw the MW this morning and happily cos of no complications, she has given me the go ahead to labour in the lovely MLU at our local hospital Grin

She also suggested lots of sex over the next couple of weeks to try and get things going. Crikey...!

Can I join in please? I've been lurking in the background and reading about everyone having their babies... I am 39 weeks today and I think I lost my mucus plug (or some of it) yesterday and this morning, I've been having irregular contractions most days at some point for the last 2 weeks (which is rather frustrating) spent all of yesterday in bed relaxing and today have too much energy... maybe today could be the day Grin

My lovely little boy was born at 5.10 this morning via ventouse. Quite sore now but he is feeding very well and looking all around him. He has an enormus head like his brother, I will NOT be having any more children with DH anyway, that is for sure!

Congratulations lots! Lovely name - hope you're recovering well and having lots of cuddles!

Fran hope you get a bed soon!

Freddie good luck - hope things get moving soon! Considering hospitals are places people go to get well, the food should be better! Where's Jamie Oliver when you need him Smile

Oh it's nerve wracking not knowing Fran - hope you can go soon (or go into labour first - that would be nice). Well I had gel inserted at 10 and nothing so far - doing the crossword and have just been served lunch (white bread, bacon and sausages and beans - ugh really??). It's actually the most relaxing morning I've had in a loong time:) DS was fine this morning - more excited about spending the day with his Aunt! Thank you Corona , will be updating:)

Congrats lots - fantastic news!!

Best of luck Freddie. There wasn't a spare bed yesterday so it's a case of calling every morning to see if it's my lucky day. I know what you mean about having a tear in your eye - I was the same saying goodbye to DS just now on his way to nursery Sad

Being induced tomorrow at 9.... Nervous but can't wait to get the baby out and finally meet it! Can't sleep.... Not good:( Had a tear in my eye reading DS his bedtime story and tucking him in tonight, feel bad for having another baby in a weird way.

I'm the same cake, nervous about labour and it's my second. But it's a big thing, isn't it? My Mum had 5 and said she was nervous each time, but it will be fine:) i'm just trying now to focus on getting to meet my baby and that lovely rush afterwards, it will be worth it!

Thanks Fran, good luck with tomorrow! I keep thinking I don't want to be induced either, but I'm wrecked, tired of vomiting and aching legs and back and knees and feet... it will be nice to have it done with! Poor you with polyhydramnios, it sounds horrible:(

Clar- it would be nice to have waters breaking sometimes I think, just to be sure that labour is starting. Maybe start carrying some maternity pads with you, just in case?

MB - it is indeed a good date! I hadn't realised that, all I had seen that it was on the 21st, and DS is the 21st too (of another month though), I kind of felt bad about that, that it was somehow making his day a little less special...pregnancy turns me into a sap!

Right, off to have a big long soak in the bath, DH is working tonight so staying in as long as possible, it will be the last time I get to have one in ages I suspect! My sister's coming over to stay with DS tomorrow night just in case so can't do nit then.

Hello all and congrats to Mayim.

My little one was finally born, in Swansea mb34, on Sunday morning by emergency c section following a failed induction. Pretty gruesome at the time but so so worth it! Home today and still very sore and somewhat shellshoked! I had a little girl, Cassie, 8lbs.

Good luck to everyone still waiting.

Congratulations Mayim! Wonderful news.

Consultant couldn't perform a sweep today as am still closed. I'm booked for an induction tomorrow, however, the ward is full so I need to call tomorrow at 10am to see if there's a bed. Otherwise it goes to the next day. He gave me the choice of whether I wanted an induction, including the risks. Maybe it's for the wrong reasons but I'm so massive and exhausted with the polyhydramnios, I don't feel I can keep going for another week.

Freddie here's hoping you don't need an induction.

Congratulations Mayim! You were so spaced out you forgot to tell us what you had!! Hope you're having lots of lovely cuddles and all cosied up in this weather? Oooh, jealous of your newborn baby smell that you'll be able to inhale whenever you feel like it!

After my miserable first post in here on Friday I ended up having the best nights sleep in AGES on Friday which made me feel great on Saturday. Even though this is my second, I'm still having the odd wee panic about labour but sure the baby can't stay in there forever can it? Wink

Have reconciled myself to waiting at least another week for this baby to make an appearance so should just chill a bit (and get some of the cleaning and tidying I've been meaning to do since I stopped for mat leave 4 weeks ago Hmm

Good luck to everyone else!

Congrats Mayim! Have you decided on a name yet?

Fingers crossed Freddie if you're 2cm you may not need an induction! (Good date if you are to be induced though 21.11.12 :-D)

I'm still here - DH's last shift tonight until Saturday so tonight/tomorrow I will be bouncing on my ball/eating pineapple/doing the dance from the youtube vid lol!

Clare that's a good first sign to have! I feel like I'm constantly looking for signs now though (Don't think I've had any yet), so may start a new thread asking people what their first signs were!

Thats great freddie (how was it?! Confused)

Yup 39 weeks - only just got basics from mum and sis that their waters always break first - so now i may have a basis for what to go on... makes my plan of walking-metro-walking-sweep-possible hike back over town moor/metro back look less favourable next tuesday; bin bag in car methinks!
