16+5 Doc prescribed anti-nausea tablets. Worried about taking them....

I feel sick permanently and I have been sick up to 20 times day / night, since 3 weeks. Over 3 months later, i dont know how much more i can tolerate. I had a couple of days just feeling sick, without actually vomiting - I felt like the old me again.
I work full time in quite a demanding job and I'm trying to finish a masters thesis but all I do is sleep or vomit. Doc prescribed prochlorperazine to try to break back of sickness.
I'm so happy to be pregnant but I really didn't expect to feel so lousy, for so long. I want to take the tablets to stop this sickness but I'm worried about taking drugs. Has anyone else taken these?

hey hunny!
i was prescribed on two different anti sickness meds as i was being sick every 15 minuets day and night, horrid! They did leave me pretty exhaused so i was in bed from about 6 weeks to 16 weeks but i dont know wether that was the tablets or the being sick lol baby had no side effects what so ever and came 8 days before my due date at a healthy 7lbs 14oz xx
i lost 3 stone in 10 weeks xx

Thank you so much for the reassurance. It really helps to be able to share this with people who understand.
I took the tablets last night and today - really good day, even managed food this evening.
I think I might need to get signed off work at some point but I will just keep trying to get by until then. Thanks again - I'm so glad I've joined :) xn

Queen, I am the same as you but 21 weeks and I take cyclizine. I have been signed off from a very stressful job and its made a big difference. Talk to your GP for reassurance, mine has been fab. I understand your worries of taking the meds, but my hubby summed it up beautifully one particularly bad eve by saying that feeling so ill is definitely not doing baby good, vs a small possibility of a tablet that as far as we know is ok.

Sorry to hear you've been feeling crap. I've been ill since week 6, diagnosed with hyperemesis and hospitalised 3 times with dehydration, so know how fed up you must be feeling. I'm now 23 weeks and although I still have my bad days, I'm SO much better than I was say 10 weeks ago! If you're worried about meds speak to the pharmacy dept at your hospital- I did this and they assured me that the meds I'm on are perfectly safe for baby. I also work full time like you and was exhausted going into work. The tiredness seemed to make the sickness worse so eventually I got signed off sick which was the best thing I could have done. Being able to relax and not worry about work helped so much. Is this something you could do? Don't feel like a failure, sometimes pregnancy is just that bit more difficult for some of us and you just have to do what you can to get yourself and the baby through it. Hope you're feeling better soon Smile

Just to let you know there is hope ..............i had horrendous and debilitating morning sickness BUT it got easier by about 18 weeks and had stopped completely at 22 weeks ..........................

It may not last all the way through I know it is horrid and you want to do anything to make it go away ...mY GP would not prescribe me tablets as he said it was too early ( this was about 12-13 weeks ) .

Good luck and hope you start feeling better soon

I am now 37 + 5 and feel amazing....people n o longer tell me i look horrendous and now tell me i look glowing and that's just how i feel .............NOW ! xx
