When to go to ante natal classes?

I have been looking at ante natal classes in my area and nct does classes for women expecting in November. The problem is that the class is at the start of October and I am worried that I will not know much if I go into labour before the 40 weeks. When do people normally attend classes? I would like to have time to practice massage and breathing with my dh as would like to be relaxed as possible!

I'm doing an NCT weekend course on 30th/31st July and am due on 25th August. I was a bit worried about the dates but it came up in list of courses recommended for my due date so I decided to risk it.

due to weekends away and husband's working patterns we couldn't get booked onto an NCT course until the 9th July - baby's due on 27th!

I think we might be cutting it a bit fine but it was either that or nothing.

October for November seems fine to me, as cattleprod says, not too early to allow you to forget everything - least ours will be fresh in our mind!

Our NHS one doesn't allow you to book until you're around 26 weeks pregnant. I booked mine this week and the classes are in July, when I will be around 31 weeks.

Late 20s to early 30ish weeks. Not so early that you forget everything but not when you're full term and lumbering around. Also sometimes they give you info or leaflets about pregnancy groups, yoga, additional classes etc so it's good to have some time available to try them out.

Our NHS ones suggest you join the class that starts closest to you being 28 weeks.

Our solitary NHS class on labour isn't until 36 weeks. I think it's 'normal'.
