Nausea worse in evening?

Just wondering if anyone's nausea becomes really strong in the evening? It's driving me crazy... I can't look at food or I start feeling like I need to puke. Isn't it so weird? Can't wait for the 12 weeks to be up and this feeling to go away!!!!!!

I had awful sickness that got a lot worse in the evening. I could manage to nibble on cold food in the day but could never stomach anything in the evening. It won't last forever, although I know it feels like it will. Hopefully it will be the Sam for you but I started feeling better at around 15.5 weeks and by 16 weeks I was completely fine and have been stuffing my face ever since! Blush

I am 16 weeks and still have evening sickness. Worse if I stay up late as well. Kinda worried that since it has lasted past 14 weeks, that I'll be stuck with it all the way through! Ugh...any experience with never ending nausea?

With DD1 I had nausea but this is stronger and is there all day, driving me crazy as it's so hard to ignore it dont you all think? So many things repulse me too so it's not like I can just eat anything to get over it... Always thought women who sent their dp's out late etc to urgently get gherkins or whatever were making it up/exaggerating but now I am that woman!! Woops!

I wonder if it's another girl then...? Hmm....Funny theory, wonder how that works.

My SIL had a DD and only had morning sickness in the evening.

For me it comes on in the afternoon and gets worse. Don't know about the boy/girl thing as I am only 9 weeks with my first!

Mine is much worse in the evenings, I get hungry, and then if I have to wait at all or food, become very nauseous. I feel queasy at other points of the day but def worst in the evenings.

With DD it was more of an all day thing. I think it started earlier with her but wa sgone by about 14 wks, fingers crossed this doesn't carry on too!

Mine was always worse in an evening. First pregnancy was a daughter - second pregnancy is still in progress Xmas Wink

I found if I can sneak an afternoon nap in (around 4-ish) then that helped. It mostly passed completely at around 14-16 weeks. Appreciate that an afternoon kip isn't always possible. Afternoon "tea" might help though? Maybe a brew & a bun at about 3:30 - 4pm?

My morning sickness seems to be really. It was very bad between 6-9 weeks, but still getting at nearly 16 weeks!
With DS, I think my MS stopped around 20 weeks!

From weeks 5 to 7 wa all day but worse at work since then come 4 pm I steadily go down hill. Have been bad in the evenings this week and am nearing 10 weeks am told it peaks around now am hoping it eases soon as it stops me wanting to eat but am hungry, I hate being sick and then struggle to sleep. Resting and sipping water helps a bit.

I usually only get to the point of vomiting once a week but since ive been worse in the evenings it's every day and it's worse if you have eaten, yuk!

Yes mine was with both pregnancies, think it is made worse by being tired or by not eating enough (low blood sugar). I used to feel better if I had a really good belch (!) and ginger beer definitely helped. I also found sucking on ice lollies, or bizarrely, drinking bovril, helped when I couldn't face food. I found it stopped by about 14 weeks. Good luck!

I'm getting desperate. I'm almost ten weeks and the nausea has been getting worse since week 7. I can't face eating anything but dry bread - so much for baby's nutrients - and lying flat is the only way to get any relief. If I lift my head up I start to retch almost immediately. Am scared even to try to have a shower, as I'm convinced I'll be sick. As with others in this thread, I feel sick all day but it gets worse in the evenings. Here's hoping we all get much better soon.

yeah I was not too bad till about 3-4pm when I started to feel horrendous! It gradually got earlier and early and eventually was all day and didn't go till 20 weeks!

Mine was always at it's worst at 3 o clock exactly. I did notice eventually though taht it did really seem to coincide with ahving low blood sugar. I didn't tend to get it in the mornings as the first thing i do when I get up is have breakfast. So perhaps try having a snack in the evenings?

Definitely was worse for me in the evening and like sloathy, I just wanted cheese, crisps and toast. Luckily, it faded away at 12 weeks. I'm now almost 18 weeks and only feel nauseous if I'm tired and/or hungry.

Report
sloathy · 17/12/2010 20:02

Mine was definitely worse in the evening. My theory is that it gets worse the tireder you are and inevitably after a long day at work or looking after other dc you're going to be very very tired.

I got into a pattern of coming through the door from work, changing into my pjs, making a small carb high snack (usually something like cheese and crackers or cheese on toast) and then took it to bed. I was good for nothing in the evenings until 12/14 weeks.

The sickness has mostly gone now (21 weeks) but comes back a bit when I'm really really over tired.

Oh good to hear others had the same!

I'm hoping it goes away at 12 weeks, well it did with dd1.....

It's like your body is controlling you, I'm revolted by lots of food and then something enters my head and I need it then and there and lots of it. Crikey, the things we women go through. I try to explain it to dh and he thinks I'm nuts!

Mine was worst 4-6pm. It stopped at about 11 weeks though and I've felt sick less than 5 days since (now 23 weeks).

Its not unusual for the nausea to get worse as the day goes on.

In my first pg I felt absolutely fine all morning until about 11am. So I did all my eating early in the day. My work colleagues were like this Confused, cos I'd be eating constantly for the first two hours of the working day!

Btw - don't necessarily count on blessed relief at 12 weeks. Just saying.

Report
gallicgirl · 17/12/2010 17:18

yeah I was like that. It was a fine balance when i timed dinner. Too long and I would vomit because I was hungry, too soon and the food would make me vomit. Work thought I was fine as I rarely suffered in the morning!

Eat small amounts regularly and it'll soon pass. Good luck - there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
