Upside down Mum pooch 🙃

Hi all,

this is going to sound weird…I know.

so before getting pregnant I was a uk size 8, pretty athletic and worked out 5 times a week. During pregnancy I put on over 3 and a half stone..being 5’3 I was pretty big!

Im not 5 weeks postpartum and have lost just over 2 stone. A lot of which was water weight when my waters were broke it was pretty spectacular 😂

anyway..I inevitably have the squishy what I call Mum pooch belly BUT all of my squish seems to be at the top of my belly like right underneath my bra rather than at the bottom. When I wear a sports bra it kind of sits on top of it and pushes it out more. Does anyone else have this? Or have any idea why it’s like this and what I can do to get it to suck back in!

thank you!

Could it be Diastis op? I had this issue and gp diagnosed this. The muscle can be wonky higher up too! And it can cause this appearance. In which case, it might go back to normal itself soon!

Have you done vacum exercises before? They are ok post partum and I was told they can help this.

They don’t check your cervix at 6 week check up!

5 weeks is still very early days, it can take up to 9-12 months for your body shape to settle after having a baby.
