That uncomfortable "falling out" feeling after childbirth...:-(

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if this is totally normal or not, but since I had my DS ten days ago, my pelvic floor/undercarriage (or lack of I should say) has been feeling as though its not getting any better at all.

It hurts to stand and walk as well as to get up from a sitting/laying position. Its sore and uncomfortable, feels heavy and as though all my insides are falling out, and very sensitive.

I know there's been some trauma down there, given that I've just had a baby, but I wondered how normal this feeling was, when it will start to heal and if anyone has any tips for speeding up recovery or encouraging healing...my DS was only 6lb 9, but came very quickly (7 mins pushing) and I had a second degree tear as well as a significant blood loss.

Its making me worry slightly as I'm struggling to get up and pick up my little one, and my other half goes back to work later this week and I won't have any assistance then.

Thanks so much in advance x

I'd definitely get that checked. I had a 8lb9 baby with a 2 Litre PPH and 2nd degree tear and I didn't feel like that. Sore, but not like you've described. Best to get checked I think so they can reassure you.

That doesn't sound 'normal' to me, so definitely mention it to your MW. It might be worth asking her to check the tear is healing correctly. 10 days post I was sore but not as your are describing.

I had this after ds1 for ages. I told mw and she kept on encouraging me to do pelvic floor exercises but it felt impossible I just couldn't do them. I tried and tried everyday. It got slightly better everyday. Just keep persevering. If it doesn't get any better after a few weeks get referred to see a gynecologist.

I'd refer yourself to the physio. It may just be taking longer than usual to get back to normal (in which case they can reassure you and talk you through the exercises) or you may have more trauma than expected.

We need GussieGrips here!
