ds has totally freaked me out today. i'm not religious or spiritual but we've had a few incidents lately eg; he's run through the house from his bedroom shouting "theyre here mummy, theyre here" ive looked out of the window in the kitchen (on the other side of the house where the road is not visible from his room and theres no way he could see it) and my parents car was just turning in. when he throws a tantrum about wanting to watch cbeebies the channel changes or the tv switches on/off.

today we were watching top gear and dh turned over before the next item started. ds then said "no, green car daddy." this went on for about 2 mins so dh turned back over. there, sure enough, wass jeremy clarkson test-driving a green astin martin. this car wasnt on when we changed channel. whats going on? is it just a series of freaky coincidences?

my sister's daughter used to say things like this. Most specifically, she told my sister (when she was pregnant) that her sister was going to be born tomorrow. Sure enough, my sister had a baby girl the next day and she didnt know the sex of the baby at all beforehand. My niece outgrew this talent, which pleased my sister cos it scared the heck out of her lol.

I have (or did have) a very open mind to all nature of seemingly supernatural occurences - then I went to see derren brown and I'm afraid as much as I'd like to believe in mystical stuff he just was too bloody good at explaining it all away - or replicating a 'phenomena' so precisely.

When you think of the number of times ds has said or done uncanny things versus the every other minute of every day when he hasnt then it becomes nothing more than a funny though rare coincidence in the big scheme of things..that would be Derren Brown's explanation anyway which seems quite feasible but as they say there are more things in heaven and earth etc..

Lissielou - actually I wasn't taking the piss (much). I think there are a lot more things than we understand going on. For instance, I can tell when a phone is going to ring and quite often who it is. But I always assumed it's because the phone makes a 'pppeeeet' noise before it rings and I just guess who is calling.

Drive my DH nuts. Esp. when I refuse to answer because it's his mother!

I would just acknowledge what he says and tell him it's okay. If he's possessed by demons Vanish can get the green spew stains out of the carpet.

Of course you are not helping matters allowing him to commune with the great devil of Oxfordshire Mr Clarkson

Many people believe that all children are to some degree psychic Lissie and that we all are/used to be but we learn to "block it out" by the time we are about 7.

Try not to be freaked by what happens; there are a great many things in life that exist whether we understand them or not. Just try to take it in your stride and see what happens, mayeb document the occurances and don't let DS get an hint that you are uncomfortable with the things he knows.

well, we missed the beginning of top gear, put it on 1/2 way through and we live in a very quiet road so wasnt a car. he may have known my parents were coming, but a few things have happened which are just odd.

ive always thought that dh's grandad was watching him (dh was v close to him) and he has called a train driver doll that we got him for xmas "ben" (grandads name) and one of his troublesome trucks "benny"

can't I just have a smile? I am not laughing out loud.

I did flirt with suggesting that your DS was suffering from demonic possession but was worried you'd take me seriously.

Well they do say little ones have a natural open-mindedness to spiritual/phsycic matters tha older people have been trained to supress.

I wouldn't fret it's quite a nice gift to have- don't laugh at him or poo-poo him & see what happens?

Weeelll, outside voice would say there are some possible explanations for some of these
With your parents arriving - did he know they were expected (ie he was hopeful rather than right?) Could he have heard a car? DS has done this a couple of times (but obviously, there are far MORE times when people turn up and he hasn't said anything!)
Top gear thing - could he have seen a green car at the beginning of the programme (they usually preview what they're going to do...)

Can't think of an explanantion for the channel changing thing though (unless he's lying on the remote )

don;t know. but it could be coincidence, that is the most rational explanation , maybe he heard the car? maybe he saw a trailer for the car show? who knows????? after my whole haunted house thing, i am more open to less rational explanations
