We were having this discussion after mass this morning.

My favourite is Agnus Dei.
When sung in church it lifts my heart. Beautiful

Mine is Happy Day. We don't really do traditional hymns at our church unless someone is being baptised and has requested it.

I am Catholic but one of my favorites is by C of E vicar Percy Dearmer "God is love, his the care" I love the chorus.

Sing aloud, loud, loud!
Sing aloud, loud, loud!
God is good, God is truth,
God is beauty, Praise Him!

(Preferably with a pounding organ - opps oo-er missus!)

I love that one sunshine. 'And your grace clothes me in righteousness. Your mercy covers me in love...I stand complete in you.' Shiver! :)

Thank you cheapskate.

LittleMiss I wasn't at the new wine day this year but usually go to the Harrogate one. It's an amazing day isn't it! Are you going to the sumer conference? I can't wait :)

Wow, I never realised that "And Can It Be?" was so popular! My favourite too. I chose it for my baptism (Baptist church, so full immersion) and the "chains fell off" line went very nicely with the sermon, which was based on Paul in prison and the earthquake freeing him. I also love "Amazing Grace" and am usually in tears at some point whilst singing it.

Worship songwise, my favourite is "Mighty to Save", also known to reduce me to tears as I think of the mountains He has to move in my immediate existence.

Praying for your swift recovery, Madhairday

I love 10,000 reasons too. Brilliant song. Was anyone else at the New Wine Northern Ladies Conference? - That song was one of the most powerful moments of the day. And I also love Come People of the Risen King (Townend/ Getty) which is newish and Lift My Eyes (Steve James).

Agree with And Can it Be and Amazing Grace - those have really held the test of time, such beautiful, powerful songs.

I like 'Father hear the prayer we offer'. Not so keen on the tune but love the sentiment.

Another vote for In Christ Alone here - I find it quite hard to get through the last verse without crying though! No power of Hell, no scheme of man, can ever pluck me from his hand, Till he returns or calls me home, here in the love of Christ I'll stand So beautiful Smile

I also love Be Thou My Vision and My Jesus, My Saviour

Lots of hymns but also the prayer that goes: we are not worthy lord to gather up the crumbs under thy table.
