I (somehow!!) have a kitten! and I am smitten!

DH and I have always had cats but decided we would wait till the kids are older but the other night we saw an advert on preloved for an adult cat who needed rehoming, we fell in love and rang up on a whim, she had gone

That then started the ball rolling and we ended up looking at the cats section of the adverts, there was one 2 miles from us and DH said 'lets ring, the ads a week old anyway they'll be gone'

So we did, just for the crack of it.

The guy answers and says he has a kitten left, where do we live etc ... we told him (this is at 9pm after just going on preloved at 8:30pm to look for something else!!) so we told him where we were and he said 'no way Im headeing there now!'

we were like 'uhh ok'

he aid 'do you want me to drop him off?'

DH said 'ermmm yea'

and 20 mins later we are st in the living room with a tiny black kitten

Luckily my mental MIL gave us a random packet of cat food a few weeks before (don't ask) and we had an old litter tray that we had to put paper in,

but 2 days later we are all stocked up with kitty supplies and he is absolutly gorgeous!!

The kids are brilliant with him and he is sooo chilled out.

DS1 (3) named him Vader

my aunt has 2 from differant litter and a month apart in age and they seem to get on fantastically. that said, if he's got kids to keep him busy and nice warm laps to sleep on he'll probably be fine on his own.

I would love to get another for him to play with, there was only him left or else i would probably have gotten 2 (we always got kits in pairs when i was younger)
but Im worried how they would be having come from different litters.

you think that's bad, i accidentally ended up with 5 last month

2 got a new homes but we fell in love with the mother cat and 2 of the kittens so now we have 3 cats, 2 toddlers and a bump

enjoy the new arrival, they really are great with kids as long as they're used to them from a young age so i wouldn't worry on that count.

We are thinking of getting one to replace cat that died last month but somehow we keep dithering. We need someone to dump one on us like that.
