Can I ask for your help?

A friend of mine has had a bad accident while on holiday in Italy. Unfortunately she didn't have travel insurance and so her friends and family are trying to raise the money for an air ambulance to take her home once she is stable enough to travel.
I know this is a big ask but if you could spare a pound to donate to get her home the website is //www.bringromhome.com we would all really appreciate it.
Sadly this isn't a scam, www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/mum-fighting-life-after-plunging-3573719.
If you can't donate would you please consider sharing the donation page on your facebook or retweeting.
Thanks so much in advance.

Don't know. She did have the European health card so perhaps she thought it covered all health related things.
I'd rather not get into why she didn't have insurance if that's ok and just focus on hopefully raising the profile of the donations site.

At the time of her accident it was reported that Romilly was in a coma.
Is she out of the coma yet? Poor lady and her family.
I never go away without taking out travel insurance, it's not expensive. However, as you say, debating travel insurance won't help get her home.
Have you spoken to your local MP to see what they can do?

If there is a spokesperson for the family it might be worth them getting more publicity by urging their MP to being up the matter of their should be compulsory travel insurance.
Lots of people do not apply for insurance because they think it might be too expensive or think that nothing will happen to them. I paid only £6 to cover myself and my daughter for a week in Spain last year!
Your friend needs maximum publicity. Write to large companies from the area she is from and ask for donations as some large firms like the publicity.
People need to realise the importance of travel insurance and your friends plight could be part of a public campaign to get people to protect themselves and their families.
