I got an email saying he claimed his decision was nothing to do with the petition, but the organisers still think it played a role.

Agree that it should have been the TV station that refused him, not the other way round :(

I'm pleased but confused - some online sources are saying he turned down the offer. I don't think it should be up to him, I think TV stations and programme makers should refuse to employ the nasty little criminal bully. (Didn't get an email from the petition organiser, should I have done?)

Wow, how fantastic- a petition that actually made a difference! Great, I'm really pleased.

His side of the story will be nothing but lies. He was convicted. We don't need to hear his bullshit.
I agree with Jinglebelly too, and i have signed the petition.

Update-

Don't know if anyone else has seen, but I received an email saying that the petition had been successful and that JLC will now not be appearing on the show.

Well done everyone who added their named to the petition.

I can't see the problem myself. Most "celebrities" who appear simply make themselves look like complete and utter twats. I don't see why he would be any different.

I don't think Michael Barrymore was ever convicted of a criminal offence was he?

Lee Collins had his chance to tell 'his side of the story' - in court.

uptheamp - Umm, he gave his side of the story in court. Every day for weeks. Because it was a crock of shit, hsi 'side of the story ' got him convicted.

Report
Pantomimedam · 15/12/2012 21:45

uptheamp - he had the chance to give 'his side of the story' in court. And was convicted. There were recordings played in court of him ranting at his girlfriend - chilling. If you want to hear his side of the story, look up the news coverage at the time. You don't need to encourage Channel 5 to pay a criminal tens of thousands of pounds and give him hours of exposure on prime time TV to hear his side of the story.

The last online petition I signed from a link on here: I keep getting spam e-mails now and e-mail requests to sign other petitions. It is a bit of a pain.
I hope this doesn't start up a load more of that malarky though.

elfyrespect · 15/12/2012 21:29

I'm appalled he's being considered.
I can't bear to hear him on that Ooops TV one.

Those phone recordings she got of him were just horrible.

Hi everyone,

We're going to move this to petition in a mo, as that's the best place for it.

Signed and disgusted at Channel 5. But also appalled at the people on here saying somehow the abuse is her fault because she had an affair with him when he was still married. So he didn't have an affair when he was married and a father? Therefore it's OK for him to have subjected her to a tirade of emotional and psychological abuse. He was fucking convicted of the crimes he committed!

flippinada · 15/12/2012 10:42

Disgusting that channel 5 are even considering this, I mean to say.

Report

Signed - and I'm pleased to say quite a few of my friends have signed too. Disgusting.

not only the alcohol- also trying to insinuate that because she self harmed (ergo PD) then she couldn't possibly be telling the truth.

Signed. Sickening that Channel 5 would do this but unfortunately doesn't surprise me.

Report
ThatBlokesANutter · 15/12/2012 00:57

Oh, and the way he used her problems with alcohol to try and slur her and paint himself as the victim.

I believe she is/was having problems with alcohol. Totally irrelevant to anything at all. But he gave that one a good go.

ThatBlokesANutter · 15/12/2012 00:55

He was convicted

This man subjected her to a sustained campaign of emotional abuse. That is just as terrifying, bewildering and CRIMINAL as punching someone repeatedly in the face. The things he did were designed to control and bully her.

And again i say... he was convicted. There is NO DOUBT over what he did.

And, for that reason, he should not be financially rewarded.
