Woman/women

Is it just me or are fellow pedants noticing that people don't seem to know the difference between the words "woman" and "women" and seem to use them interchangeably? Again and again on MN I'm seeing posts that say "A women in the supermarket" or "a group of woman." What is it about this plural that passes people by? I doubt many people would say "A men in the supermarket," would they?

I can't say I have noticed it. I'm not clever enough to be a true pedant though. I'll notice it now, pants.

Yes, I've seen this a lot of late. I have no idea why it's a mistake people make now, but I tend to just giggle and think "I am women hear me roars!" which helps stop my head exploding!

I did a module in uni called 'Women's Health'. The lecturer always used to say woman health, it used to drive me mad!

I really have to hold back from commenting on it on threads. It drives me nuts.
