My friend had a Peter Pan Party, and the boys and a couple of girls went as Pirates, most of the girls went as Tinkerbell(they were 5 so quite alot are girly/princessey at this age IME)

My DS went as the Croc, spent ages doing my "Blue Peter bit" with Cereal box and paint!!

Great Party though LOL!

Sounds fantastic. Dd would have loved something like that. Whenever she was invited to a princess party she always went dressed as a knight

Mine have all loved being pirates at parties.

Great - I just counted what's left in the box and there are 36 of them - it weighs 704g, though, so according to the Royal Mail that's £2.51 for first class post - that okay?

If you'd like to email me your address on lovecat66 at btinternet dot com I can get them off to you and give you my paypal details (not the same email address!)

My dd loves all the pink princess nonsense but I'm sure she would also love dressing up as a pirate. Super hero (with pink cape) is her usual dressing up option

chocolatespiders - if you want sweetie necklaces give me a shout - I bought a boxful at the cash n' carry for DD's party bags back in Feb - 30 little girls later AND stuffing a hundredweight of them into the pinata we had for the kids at my birthday bbq last weekend STILL hasn't shifted more than half of them - I need to get rid!

If you're interested I'll post my email...

DD would definitely love to be a pirate - she's off to a party tomorrow with an 'Ocean' theme and has asked to be a pirate (have to admit I nudged her in that direction as the birthday girl will be a mermaid (the other option) also I feel the tail will cramp dd's style somewhat...)

we had a treasure chest cake - as well as chocolate coins and sweetie necklaces etc we used the haribo ring sweets too.

I think a pirate party for 5 year old girls is perfect. My dd is 5 and she loves to dress up as the usual fairies and princesses but she'd also love to be a pirate. (I'm wondering why she doesn't have a pirate costume now!)

I wish my DD was friends with your DD.

I would encounter initial resistance from my nearly 6 year old but expect that I could talk her around (madamez - its not tragic gender obsessed parents, its tragic gender obsessed society, which tends to rub off on children to some degree)

loads of good stuff on partypieces.co.uk including a fabulous Pin the Eye Patch on the Pirate game

i bought red and white dotty fabric and lots of v cheap eye patches and dressed up the "pirates" as they arrived. suggested they might like to wear a stripy top. They all looked so cute and over a year later several of them still dress up with their headscarves and eye patches.

For dd's party the cake I did was just a big square, with jam in the middle. I then covered it in pale blue streaky-ish ready roll icing, to be the sea. I made a sort of "lump" of green icing, which became the land, in one corner of the cake and stuck Playmobil trees and pirates and skeletons and treasure on it. I dug out a bit of the sea and stuck a shark figure in it so that the shark was rearing up out of the waves. I put the cake on a board and surrounded it with chocolate coins and various "jewels". It was very easy but looked pretty good, if I may say so!

This thread is making me sad and jealous though, as my two now tell me they are too "old" for parties at home and want to go to the cinema etc instead - booooooooring!

Pirate tattoos available from yellowmoon.org.uk and very reasonably priced, might go down well. Either as an activity, prizes or something to send home in party bags
