All in One Advice Needed Please!

Ds is 7 months and we are not getting on too well with our 2 parters atm. He is so wriggly he always manages to crawl off before I've got the wrap on and it is really beginning to annoy me. It takes about 10 mins for me to change one nappy.

Also he is really big (about 23 pounds) with chubby thighs and PUL wraps seem to dig into his legs and make horrible red lines, which look really sore. I've tried fleece wraps too, but they don't seem to keep him dry for very long.

I'm after some AIOs or pockets, but I'm not sure which ones would suit. I've tried MEs and Happy Heinys, but they don't seem to last more than a couple of hours.

I need some advice, please help!

TIA.

Wonderoos or Fuzzi Bunz with hemp inserts, suit my heavy wetters really well, still don't get as long as a two part system out of them but will work well for a good three hours

Wonderoos, definitely (but two parters will always be more reliable in the long run, sounds like you need bigger wraps if they're cutting in?). I'm sure there'll be some on sale on the wanted board? I also find my bumgenius to be pretty reliable and the easiest by far - you might still be able to get a few bogof (v.2 as v.3 now out). NOt as generous as wonderoos though.

Definitely sounds like you need the next size up in wraps. I'm suprised how loose around the legs my airflow wraps can be before they start to leak.

I think you'll find pockets more adaptable than AIOs.

I moved over to pocket nappies when my DD would not sit still - now back to two parters as she decided to sit still again 4 months later.

I tried Mommy's Touch, Pocket Bots, Green Acre Designs, Wonderoos, Fuzzis, Lollipop, Minkis.

Out of those I found the GADs and pocket bots to be the most reliable. They are very similar in design, the GAD is hard to find in this country.

The newer wonderoos weren't bad either but not as user friendly IMO and the insert moved around in it a lot (plus my inserts fell to bits ).

I found if I had a good fit then the nappy lasted longer. I used GAD microfibre or hemp inserts, and boosted those with supermarket value microfibre dishcloths and various odd hemp inserts depending on how long I wanted the nappy to last for. I used a bamboo terry square for night times which was fab (a bit bulky for the day time maybe though)

IMO two parters definitely last longer but you should be able to get 3-4 hours out of the right pocket nappy. At least they dry quicker than two parters.

If you are interested in the pocket bots the website has a good gallery section with photos of all different sizes of babies wearing them so you can have a look and see if you think they might fit your LO well.

Thanks very much everyone!

I need to sort through my collection and thin out some of the 2 parters!

I have just had a look on usednappies.co.uk and am going to buy a second hand Pocket Bots, Wonderoo and a couple of other to see how we get on before I fork out for a load of new ones (dp is going to flip)!

Sounds like a good plan.

Just wanted to say that Pocket Bots are on Version 3 (I think) and there are some significant differences between the versions which you might want to bear in mind if you buy second hand.

The version three has two new features - an insert grabber and angled poppers - both are really good improvements, The version 2 has the insert opening in the middle of the nappy which some people found made it a PITA to get the insert out of a dirty nappy. The version one is like a standard pocket nappy, no insert grabber, straight poppers, insert opening at the back. The version 3 is definitely the best but the others are good too. Also look out for the PUL type on them as she made several different types - some are more flexible than others. Some are like cotton but really waterproof and others are less flexible and soft - don't think she makes those less flexible ones now as she has found a really good PUL.
