DD1 - age 4 - just started schl in sept. had been to nursery depmt so knew other kids well.
3 wks ago started to cry after swimming - they go to upper schl to swim - this happened 2 wks on

trot - we put it down to the fact that shes abit intimidated by being at big schl with the bigger kids(upto

age 18). had lovely half term - with dh and dd2 -but she apparently cried for most of day at schl

yesterday and wouldnt say why.she told us she had sore throat/tired/didnt like maths....we talked

about things and really tried to reassure her. yet after a good nights sleep, as soon as we were

ready to leave house this am, started crying and when i rang schl at 10am they said "she's finally

stopped but still looks sad"
What should i do? why cant i find out the reason

why she's upset? should i push somemore or could this be a normal reaction to going back after a

good hol?

Please help - feel so helpless and like crying myself!

Yes, teacher says she's fine in class - good worker, happy etc. She can't fathom it out either. i think i've just got to accept that after a hol shes going to revert to this....am just worried that i'm missing something- my usually happy little girl is looking really sad and withdrawn at moment.

Have you spoken to the teacher 1 to 1 about it and can discuss if she's ok generally in class. Quiet a few children (including my ds who is now in year 1!) say they don't want to go to school as they want to stay at home with mummy.
