Lilimay.com anyone else experience problems with them?

I am in a bit of a panic.

I ordered a couple of presents from Lilimay.com (they are located in North Street, Portslade, Brighton) for my daughter's first birthday. At the time they were supposedly in stock, the company took my money, then informed me that they didn't have the stock and were awaiting delivery from their suppliers.

They failed to respond to my first email, so I sent another. They eventually got back to me and blamed the snow for both not responding and the lack of deliveries they needed to complete my order. They did offer a refund at the time, but I stupidly thought that by that time it would be quicker to wait for them than to reorder from another supplier.

Since then I have heard nothing, despite sending two further emails, both directly and through their website contact form.

I have now found a review site choc full of apalling reviews about this company, how they take the payment but customers never receive the goods, the phone rings off the hook or is permanently engaged and they don't respond to emails. There are also lots of customers that were eventually promised refunds (some only after threatening to involve Trading Standards) but then had been waiting months but still not received them.

Dh is furious with me. I am such a careful online shopper though and was sure to check that it was a genuine bricks and mortar shop with all contact details listed on the site and had seen lots of excellent reviews from people that had actually visited the shop. I would physically go to the shop and complain myself, but unfortunately I live in the West Midlands so can't get there.

I notice that the owner was a Mnetter a while back, but has not posted in quite a while.

Has anyone else had similar problems, if so, how did you resolve the issue?

I am so disappointed that my daughter's presents didn't arrive in time for her birthday and also feel so stupid for buying from an online shop that seems to be at best unreliable and disorganised or at worst downright dishonest.

This firm has a sister company called Angel Yarns. It is also shite. They owe me about £30 from a few years ago. If you want really good service I recommend Loveknitting.

Just to say that Tessa and Klyve were/are also owners of Angelyarns - it is on the same road, and sadly has had the same problems as Lilimay - just google the company for the lowdown.

I am now aware of approximately £1,900 which is allegedly outstanding (or the items ordered) from Lilimay. Once again, if you could spare me a couple of minutes to email me the details requested, I can compile the evidence and try to drive forward an attempt to address the alleged issues.

Many thanks.

Good morning. There are some 44 posts on this page. So far, I have received approximately six emails. I would urge you to email me as requested, so that we can quanitify the sums involved and escalate the matter, if at all possible.

GOOD EVENING.

SORRY TO USE CAPITALS, BUT I WANT TO THIS TO BE CLEAR.

THERE ARE CLEARLY NUMEROUS ALLEGATIONS BEING MADE ABOUT THE ACTIVITIES OF LILIMAY (AND OTHER BUSINESSES OPERATED BY KLYVE AND TESS DAWSON - OF WHICH ANGEL YARNS IS ALLEGEDLY ONE).

I AM OWED A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF MONEY BY THESE PEOPLE. IT APPEARS THAT OTHER PEOPLE MAY ALSO BE OWED SUMS.

I AM TRYING TO CO-ORDINATE GATHERING OF EVIDENCE OF THE SCALE OF THE ALLEGED LOSSES, TO PRESENT TO THE POLICE.

ACCORDINGLY, PLEASE EMAIL ME ON [email protected] IF YOU WISH TO JOIN IN THIS EFFORT.

YOU SHOULD BE AWARE THAT ANY FALSE ALLEGATIONS MAY RESULT IN THE POSSIBILITY OF LIBEL ACTION.

I SIMPLY NEED:

  1. YOUR NAME
  2. THE ITEM(S) ORDERED
  3. THE DATE UPON WHICH YOU RECEIVED AN EMAIL TO ADVISE THE ITEM WAS OUT OF STOCK.
  4. A BRIEF ACCOUNT OF WHAT YOU DID NEXT.
  5. THE SUM OUTSTANDING.
  6. A CONTACT EMAIL.

I WANT NO OTHER DETAILS - NO BANK DETAILS, NO OTHER PERSONAL DETAILS. I ALSO DO NOT WANT A LONG RANT, MUCH AS I APPRECIATE HOW YOU MUST FEEL - I AM FAR FROM HAPPY.

THE IDEA IS TO CREATE A LIST OF PEOPLE WHO POTENTIALLY HAVE MONIES OWING TO THEM AND TO QUANTIFY THE ALLEGED SUMS INVOLVED.

THANK YOU.

BLOODY HELL just seen their home page, they've taken £50 for a buggy board which was apparently out of stock and should take 4-6 weeks to be delivered. As it was 4 weeks I tried calling but was never any answer. So I checked their website today and saw themessage about them closing down. Will check out the fb page now

Not sure if this is true or not, but the Facebook group is reporting that Lilimay is closing down or has already closed...

Anyone with money outstanding needs to get onto the credit card company and get a chargeback sorted immediately!

Hi - here's the address of the actual baby shop itself plus three different numbers which are listed on their website:

LiliMay Baby Shop
11 North Street
Portslade
Brighton
Sussex

Tel: +44 (0)1273 411331
Tel: +44 (0)1273 419956

You can also try a short 'tweet' to the owner via Twitter (twitter.com/LiliMayBaby) to demand your money back. Hope this helps.

Hello,

Could anyone let me know the address to contact this place? Tried ringing, but they're either busy or don't answer...

Thanks!

Nobody seems to have had any joy with Trading Standards in this case. It's definitely worth doing but it seems like the best options are:

1 - if you paid by credit card or Visa Debit/Visa Delta contact your bank NOW and request an immediate 'chargeback' - they will give you the refund then pursue the money

2 - contact the owner Tess Dawson via Twitter (twitter.com/LiliMayBaby), Facebook etc and demand your money back immediately.

3 - there is also a group on Facebook for people in the same situation, haven't joined yet personally but they may be able to help - www.facebook.com/group.php?v=wall&ref=search&gid=357523062199

From my experience and others on here, DON'T wait for them to get back to you, DON"T wait for their 30 day period to be up - this is not necessary and is just a way for everything to be prolonged. I realised pretty quickly what had happened and took action about 3 days after I'd ordered but it still took 6 weeks to get my money back. I just felt so daft I was taken in like everyone else.

Good luck, it makes me so angry that they are putting people through this!

Am so upset - i could cry now, reading all of this. I've been chasing my Le Toy Van order for weeks, which i'd ordered over a month ago for my daughter's birthday. I will be trying to get a refund - but currently they're not answering phone calls OR replying to emails.

AVOID LILIMAY BABY AT ALL COST

To follow up from a earlier comment - I have finally been refunded - but this was my experience.

I ordered an 'in-stock' £300 product in October 2009. Cancelled late february 2010 after repeated failed promises of delivery and was told it would take a further 30 days to refund due to Worldpay restrictions. This is obvious a lie and they can actually cancel a worldpay transaction immediately! with the only delay being the usual bank transfer delay - which is about 3 days to refund your bank card.

So, if they do this with several hundred customers and several tens of thousands £££s, I'm sure that will pay for a shop persons salary in interest alone that they are making on other peoples money. And , after reading other forums posts about this dreadful company, the owners also have a holiday property in Florida which they rent out on the web!

I still waited for the 30 days to pass and once it was not refunded I kept calling them day after day after day. Even the threat of taking them to trading standards and filing a small claims court filing against them didn't seem to deter the customer service. They only finally clicked the "refund seller" checkbox on their system when I promised to drive to Brighton the next day and plaster brighton lampposts and handout a stack or leaflets to every passer by warning them of the shop's disgraceful service.

Please, please avoid Lilimay Baby at all cost. Lilimay is a disgrace. In my opinion they are borderline criminals and should be out of business. Do not buy from this company no matter how much cheaper they are than other shops. You have a good chance that you'll never see your item or your money again.

Good luck with your refunds.
C

Report them right now and contact the owner via Twitter/Facebook etc. It seems as if they only respond to those who shout loud enough so make yourself heard. I am very sceptical about claims of people being off sick - fair enough when it happens now and again but with this volume of complaints there is something badly wrong somewhere. Get a chargeback from your credit card company right away - good luck.
