Kira's gone to hosp with suspected Meningitis :-(

She is 5 and felt really unwell earlier. Gave her calpol but her temp stayed at 102 and she was screaming with a headache and stiff neck

Hubby has taken her to casualty now, we rang Nhs direct 1st and they said to go straight away!!

I know it could be just flu or something but I am so worried and I don't drive so have to stay at home with the other kids worrying till he rings

And to top it off I feel guilty that I am on the computer while she is at the hospital!!

Tiffini, I kind of wish I hadn't bought my ear termometer as I am constantly terrified by its readings at the moment! Never really took dd's temp when just had underarm one before!

Hope everything is ok - I have had a meningitis scare with both of my two. They definitely like to err on the cautious side (quite rightly) - fingers crossed that it is just one of these awful viruses going around

i normally take about 4 readings with the ear themometor and work out the average, but i agree they are so easy to use you do tend to worry to much. my DH hates it when the children have temps as i turn into a drama queen imagining all sorts

dh thinks same about me Tiffini, I just panic. There have been some AWFUL viruses this winter, haven't there? Huge temp spikes, according to my HV. Roll on summer...

My ds got rushed to hospital when just 3 weeks old but luckily he was o.k(now one), so i can imagine that this is probably one of the scariest times of your life, my thoughts are with you & i hope kira is o.k.

Just a viral infection says the hospital thank god

Got to give regular calpol and ibrufen for next 24hrs and she should be fine.

I've just gone through similar thing today. DD had a rash all over, it turned out that she was allergic to the penicillin the Dr had given her!

Put your feet up and have a good rest.

Lol... I would but went to fridge and its not there!!! Hubby just admitted he dropped it by mistake and forgot to replace it

Well this morning she is complaining of a sore neck and throat still, but she is much better than last night
