We have just heard that BIL's brother has been killed on the Hercules that has gone down near Baghdad. He has a 7 year old dd, same age as my ds1. Oh it is so, so crap [sad

tell the truth MM. say that you can't find the right words, even say that you feel like everything sounds trite and hollow, but that you're thinking of them and there for them...which you are...

How sad mm. When I heard the news this morning I just heard the numbers. Your post brings it home to me that these men were probably daddys and definately had families who love them and will be devastated. What a tragic waste.

I've bought a sympathy card and am evading thinking what to write in it by being on MN instead. What can you say that is of comfort? There's no comfort to be had. Everything I think of sounds trite and hollow.

Overwhelmed by the response - thanks, guys. I'm OK, I feel I am not entitled to grieve, as such, because we didn't really know him. But we know BIL so well obviously - so are always hearing about his brother in the RAF, and his dd (especially with her being the same age as ds1) and BIL and SIL's house is full of pictures of his niece, as well as pictures of our two ds's. It's just such a waste - I keep thinking of how I would possibly tell my child that their Daddy wasn't coming home Thanks FF, too, you are so kind, but we are OK really - just very, very sad.

Thanks all xxx
