BEING A CAPRICORN SUCKS...

It's pants - most people will give me one pressie and say it's for Xmas and your Birthday too....
well, most people forget your Birthday as they are too broke or too hung over from the Xmas/New year festivities.
How does one go about having two b'days like the queen....one in May would be GRAAAATE!

What's good about being 33?

I'm a jan birthday too right in the middle. I like that I have something to look forward to when its dark and manky outside. I sometimes get good pressies as they are in the sales (digital camera not bad). Also hotels and mini breaks are cheap cheap cheap. Not good is being on diet so not wanting to eat cake and drink lots. I think capricorns are fantastic!!! funny, very good looking, sexy as hell, intelligent, caring, amazing mothers, creative etc etc. yippee!!!

Have not read all of this thread but the good thing about this yrs b-day was that dd1 who is 3, said I was 17.....(on my 33rd B-day...on the 5th Jan!) Then....my good friends got a late cake, yesterday and they put candles (you know, with the numbers) of 1 and 7 on it for me!! If you don't like your age.....just choose a different one!

Hey Beep, my birthday is 2nd Jan too. And I'm a twin so the worst thing when we were kids was a big box of Quality Street from someone which was a shared Xmas/birthday present BETWEEN THE TWO OF US. How cheated did we feel ?

Very true lonelymum - and I agree with your Dad although I just didn't understand older people when they said that and I was younger.

Just read back and seen your birthday was NYE; don't envy you that one at all. Mine might not be an ideal day, but at least I feel it's mine all mine - you must feel yours just gets swamped. Happy birthday (and new year) lets forget the 40 thing and follow your Dad's philosophy and be 26 instead

Awww Milge - that is soo sad, poor you

Yes I can remember my mum being 40 and I thought she was so middle aged and boring! But my dad (now in his 70's) says he has never stopped feeling in his head that he is about 26 and I am feeling that more and more as I get older. TBH, when I look at young people, I don't particularly envy them or want to be their age again. I just can't bear the thought that they are looking at me and thinking I am middle aged!

My birthday is Xmas Eve, and when i was little, used to go to the panto, then have a birthday party. Everyone i invited always came, only when i was older did i realise that they came under duress from parents, who then gleefully spent all afternoon wrapping presents from Santa. Can#t remember who told me this, but it broke my little heart.....

You too Lonelymum? It is strange isn't it? My cards say 40 on them, but they must belong to someone else.

I can clearly remember my Dad's 40th when I was a teenager and really can't equate all this to me. I was talking to him about it and even he said 40 can be a tough one.

TingGang, I was 40 this year (well, last year) too so I am just adjusting to being middle aged too. It doesn't seem real does it?

Just realised my earlier post makes no sense. My birthday is 29th, not 19th December!

My birthday is New Years Eve - now that really sucks. Everyone has a reason to celebrate the day which has nothing to do with it being your birthday, so they celebrate the end of the year and don't think about you being a year older. Can only be beaten by having your birthday on Christmas Day I should think.

Mine was the 4th and it was my 40th too!! so 33 sounds great to me!! I did have a lovely birthday though this year and everyone has done their best to soften the blow of being 40 which I find very hard to think of as 'me'..that's a 'grown ups' age isn't it!? Have taken heart from here too with others saying it's not so bad

I don't think it's a good time of year to have a birthday though and have run into all the problems said here. It was always the day I had to go back to school after the holidays when I was small (hated that) and on my 5th birthday, my Grandma gave me a school satchel as a present - how depressing was that? Have also spent many birthdays in the past sitting in deserted restaurants amongst wilting Christmas decorations.

HAPPY BIRTHDAYS to all you lovely Capricorns though Have fun!! Perhaps it is a good excuse to have another special 'Capricorn day' in the Summer though. Maybe we should come up with one date and declare it a public holiday and everyone else has to spoil us rotten on it!

me too, me too......mine's on Tuesday. The worst bit I find is that everyone's completely off partying or going out for a lovely meal - they've done it to death in december and now want to go to bed early and lose weight. it's bloody rubbish having a birthday at this time of year!

Having said that dh took me out last night and I've got a raging hangover so must have had a good time.....

I am 20th Jan, everyone is REALLY broke by then waiting to get paid after christmas AND january sales! My mother knows the approximate date of my birthday but always forgets it and if I ask her if she knows when it is she ALWAYS gets the date wrong.

I am making the situation worse by getting married on 17th Jan. dp couldn't even understand why I didn't want to get married on my birthday!!!!!!

My middle of the year b-day friends don't understand why I am not bothered anymore about b-days and presents.

As for being 33 - life gets better every year, being 32 has been a great year for me so hopefully being 33 will follow on!

My Birthday's the middle of January - everyone's skint, crap weather, exams (when at school), booze has run out. My sisters NEVER get me presents and very rarely send cards - has always been thus.

Rant over - like the idea of two Birthdays like the Queen .

I was really depressed at 30 perhaps because DH tried to do surprise birthday by hiring mountain bikes for the day and I couldnt walk the next day and felt 80!

40 was great and we had a fantastic party with Salsa and a magician and lights out between the trees in an orchard. Yes August child I am afraid.

well i'd say you'd pass for a girly in their 20's so i'd stick with it. it's funny about ages. I felt odd about being 37, maybe had somehitng to do with 1st one without DH. Fine about being 38. Am fine about being 40, quite looking forward to it but i'm 39 in about 3/4 weeks, and i don't like it. Strange moi?
