Pros and cons?
How much does it hurt?

I second “ ingrow go” for the ingrown hairs,
I love my epilator,
My underarms are now virtually hairfree, having used it for many years, and my legs I go over once a week during the summer, and it takes less than 5 mins. In winter, once every few weeks keeps everything under control. I love it, would never shave.

My epilator is brilliant. It seemed expensive when I bought it for ÂŁ60. But that was 15 years ago! Compared to the cost of waxing or shaving all those years it's saved me a fortune.

I do legs & bikini. Have never done underarm (still use a razor there) but bikini line doesn't bother me. In high summer I might do a quick once over weekly as my legs are on show a lot more then but fortnightly the rest of the time. (And no, it doesn't strip the tan).

I usually do it after a bath as the pores are open & relaxed so I get the best finish then. Really isn't painful.

If you are just starting you could try going for a salon wax first and then tackling the regrowth with an epilator as it comes through.

I find that just after my period, hair plucking is a hell of a lot less painful than other times of the month. Hair grows in cycles and that tends to be the down time for me. If too painful for you at first, keep trying once a week until you find your growth 'down time' as I call it!

Yes. A bit sore the first few times but does ease the more you use it. It’s plucking your hairs out so although it’s a bit sore just remember it’s not actually doing you any real harm!!!
I do all areas with it, in a hot bath (waterproof silk epil from Braun)
Results last for a few weeks so great for summer. Use a product called “Ingrow Go” on any ingrown hairs.
Doesn’t take your tan off - it’s plucking your hairs not shaving them so it’s not dragging a blade over your skin. I apply tan a few days after doing it though, to let the skin settle and the hair follicles to close so your tan doesn’t sit in the little holes!!!

I use mine on legs. It doesn't give such a smooth finish compared to shaving but the results last a lot longer, and how they look is more important than the feel IMO

Used a facial epilator a week ago for the first time, used it all over top lip, chin and peach fuzz on cheeks etc. I came out in quite a few spots by the next day and it's taken until now for all but the last 2 to go- easily covered by make up but am still deciding if worth it! Was pretty painful but not enough to stop me in my hair free quest. Any tips on spot reduction would be great as I do like being less of a beast Grin

I want to, but I always get in growing hairs, which look terrible. How do you avoid that??

Yes and no.

Does it last longer than shaving and does it strip away tan?

Yup. I have a face one for lip and eyebrows and a larger one for legs etc. It hurts as much as waxing, but I don't mind the pain and find it quite satisfying. If you do it more often it is less painful as you're pulling out fewer hairs at once.

Yes, love it. So easy and convenient.Sore the first few times but now I can do legs, bikini line and upper lip. Can’t do underarms, too painful!
