Montessori nursery?

I am considering this type of nursery for my on, I am based in Edinburgh and found what I think i s a great nursery. Does anyone have any kind of experience with a Montessori nursery and then moving your child on to a regular taught primary school?

My DD is at a Montessori nursery and will be moving to regular primary school next year. Many of her friends (and the brother of her best friend) have moved from the nursery to "mainstream" primary with no difficulty at all. I think the Montessori methods give them a good basis both socially and educationally.

Thank you for getting back to me. How did your child first react in a Montessori nursery? My son is a loud boy, not naught just loud lol

Well, she's been there for a while - since she was a baby - so she hasn't known anything else. She's 3.9 now and not exactly the shy, retiring type! At DD's nursery they spend quite a lot of time outside where they can run around yelling to their hearts' content. Inside, they tend to be a bit quieter and they do use the "indoor voices/outdoor voices" thing when necessary.

Could you give it a try and see how he gets on?

my dd went to montessori school from the age of 3 untill she was 8 years and moved to mainstream primary school from year 3 she did very well socially and education wise

My youngest just finished 2 years of montessori nursery yesterday it was a fabulous place, and DD3 absolutely thrived there. I loved the way they foster a real interest in the world and different cultures.
My DD2 also went there, and I think the montessori equipment they use has given her an excellent grasp of maths (she now goes to normal primary school, as will DD3 come September). She didn't have any difficulties adjusting, and I reckoin her spell at montessori has stood her in good stead.

I can think of quite a few hyperactive energetic kids at the montessori, it suited them just as well :)
