Hi, I’m being a bit frantic tonight but wondering if anyone has one tonsil bigger than the other? I’ve had tonsillitis a few times in the last year or two and I’m on antibiotics atm for tonsillitis and I’ve noticed my right tonsil is enlarged compared to my left. I will try and attach a picture! Anyone have the same?

I had one enlarged tonsil - never managed to get a good look at the difference in size ,but GP referred me to ENT- I then had removal of the larger tonsil for biopsy. It was put down to bad bouts of tonsillitis as the biopsy was normal.

Thanks for your reply!
I’ll see what it’s like after my course is up, it’s been like this for the past year I would say I’m not sure I never looked before then lol.
im thinking more because of the bad tonsillitis I’ve had recently too

DS is 3 but he has one tonsil larger than the other. I got it checked out when he was younger as was worried it could be something sinister, but an ultrasound showed it’s a normal looking tonsil and his is just big.

Aw bless and I’m glad he’s okay!
I have read loads that it can happen but then it also comes up some scary stuff it’s so hard when you Google! And doesn’t help I have health anxiety ☹️

I had exactly the same as rainingcatsanddogs . I had one (much) larger tonsil. The GP referred me to ENT who took it out to biopsy, and it was absolutely fine - just manky after lots of tonsillitis and tonsil stones.

On the plus side, when I get tonsillitis now, I only get it on one side!

Oh no way! Sounds like it can happen because of it then!
was yours around same size as mine?
might send a picture to my gp tomorrow and see what they think!

I think mine was bigger! It's probably worth sending off a picture, but try not to stress too much about it (easier said than done I know - I'm a fellow health anxiety sufferer!)
