Hiya Smile

I've just found out I'm pregnant for the first time. i think I'm about 4/5 weeks. i have made an appointment at my doctors tomorrow, will they be able to tell me how far along i am? I don't know when my last period was... I feel like I've gained weight already but i think this may be psychological as I'm a slight frame!

Thanks in advance! x

Hi all, first timer here! I'm 7 weeks and really suffering from constant nausea - have only been sick once but retching a lot Sad so much so I had to take the day off on Monday. Really struggling with work as its a long drive and then can't concentrate properly! Have tried ginger, travel sickness bands but neither work and feel like all I'm doing is eating toast and chips (neither of which i usually eat) and drinking fizzy drinks, great nutrition right there! Does anyone have any other suggestions? Feel so lonely as i dont want to share the news till my first scan so haven't anyone to ask advice from - my husband has been great but only so much he can say, haha!

I thought the same! I thought they'd want to see me straight away. The first appointment is a lot of questionnaires about your lifestyle and health, they take height and weight and generally getting pregnancy notes together. They'll be happy to answer any questions you have. I think as long this is well within the first trimester it's all good. If you are worried for whatever reason you could push for an earlier appointment but I think it'd be absolutely fine at 10 weeks. I've found from talking to friends that things like this vary a bit between areas so don't worry if you know people who had their appointment earlier.

Thank you for the quick response. Not sure why but I just thought there was more information available. First time nerves and all that!

batmanswife, congratulations! I was 9.5 weeks when I had my first midwife appointment (although I only found out at 7 weeks). 10 weeks sounds fine. They should hopefully be able to book you in for the scan between 12-14 weeks.

Quick question. First time mum and found out last week that we are expecting - yay! Was 3 weeks and 5 days when we found out. Called the doctor straight away and was told a midwife appointment was needed but they have put me in for September 11th. I'll be 10 weeks by then! Should I be pushing for an earlier appointment or is this normal?

Hi all,

Just to say I'm a first time pregnant-er too, 20 weeks! Congrats to the new mums to be. Hope you are all coping well with your pregnancies. I've found it fine generally (so far) been very lucky as have not been sick but am very tired these days! I've put on about half a stone which is on the lower side of average although is hopefully ok :)

Hiya, just found out this morning. Shocked/ scared and excited all at the same time. Booked my appointment with the midwife, although my receptionis was quite snotty when I rang up to make a doctors appointment. 'You don't need to see a GP unless you don't want to keep the baby, you need to see a midwife'...it's the first time I've ever had a positive test, how would I know. Think I'm about 5/6 weeks.

Hi :) Congratulations! I did exactly the same as you and made a doctors appointment thinking thats what I was meant to do but they didn't really do anything... he just told me to make an appointment with the midwife and gave me an early pregnancy pack... bit disappointing really as I was excited!
When I saw the midwife a couple of weeks later she calculated how far gone I was by counting from the first day of my last period although like you I was unsure so she sent me for an early dating scan which was exciting as I got to see him at about 7 weeks!

Hey! This is my first pregnancy also! I'm about 5 weeks and I have put on 2-3 kgs Already, but when I started eating healthy for the baby I lost 1kg I guess it fluctuates 🙂 I have my first midwife appointment end of June! X
