The "cool" people were all tossers, so I ended up happy to go my own way. "Cool" people are almost always self-obsessed bores, don't you find? Why would anyone want to be like that? As Joe Strummer once said, with unintentional irony: "Like trousers, like brain."

Topper Headon. Because he was the only one who wasn't clearly obsessed with being cool. Obsession with coolness is uncoolest thing imaginable.

Paul. Saw an interview with him recently and he still looks pretty damn cool.

DH and I had this same discussion about the Jam the other day, and conCluded that Paul Weller is probably one of the coolest people of all time.
