Casabu the flash sales website for parents, would like to know what's important to you when shopping online for you and your DC.

This survey is open to all UK MNers who have at least one child aged 0-6 years, or who are pregnant. You must also have shopped online for yourself and/or your child(ren) in the last six months.

Everyone who takes part in this survey will receive a code which entitles them to £5 off two separate transactions at Casabu.com, everyone will also be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £250 Amazon voucher.

To take part in the survey click here

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw.

Thinking about it, I guess I would find it helpful to have delivery options, so I don't feel I have to go for what I perceive as an expensive delivery charge. Hope that is useful feedback?

The delivery charge for the item I was going to get is £3.95. I tried another item (much bigger and heavier) and the delivery price was the same. Is it me, or is the delivery charge too expensive? What's wrong with signed for? I have to say, I find it annoying how some sellers hide the delivery charge until you are at the checkout, but I suppose once you have ordered one thing you would know for next time.
It made me think twice about getting the item, as I wouldn't have spent the money at all unless I had done this survey, and with the delivery charge applied, the voucher code seems insignificant. The item may be cheaper than I could get it elsewhere, but arguably if I don't buy it then it is even cheaper!

Thank you to everyone for your feedback so far. Casabu has asked us to post this in response to your queries:

"1. We hear the feedback on the barrier that the sign-in page poses and this is helpful - we are thinking of ways we can show more about what's on the site than we currently do before asking for email and other details. We have to keep the detailed information about our sales behind a login as we are always cheaper than you can find the same products elsewhere and our brands are concerned about the pressure placed on other retailers if we advertise our prices more widely.

  1. I appreciate that the product offering seems small - to us it seems big (!) but then we are very close to day-to-day operations and it's good to know how it's perceived by others. We are only a month and a bit old so we are still ramping up our offering. We want to make sure that we get the service right before we increase the number of sale - we really don't want to mess up by going too big too soon and so far have been able to deal with all of our customer queries very personally. We will have 2-3 times as many sales on in the next 4 weeks and up to 5 sales a day (35 a week) within the next 4-5 months and sale duration will come down to 3 days (i.e. there will be around 700 products on sale each week).

  1. We carry a range of brands - some expensive, some more affordable - and it's definitely our intent to have 'something for everyone' but because our sales are transitory, there won't necessarily be something for everyone in every sale we run. We are always cheaper on like-for-like than you can find on the internet but we won't necessarily be competing with store-brand products on price all the time.

  1. Although £250 is the prize draw reward, Mumsnet charges a fee for running the survey and allowing us to ask you for your opinions directly. This fee represents a significant part of our budget at the moment. We are making the investment because we think its important to ask what women want and hear what they have to say about what we are doing and shape our business accordingly. Your feedback is really valuable to us!"

I had a look at the website but you can't see anything unless you sign up - and I'm not signing up until I can see what they've got.

Not impressed at all

Done. Had a look at the website - I can't see anywhere that tells you what the delivery charges are. And in the terms and conditions it states they are registered for VAT - the VAT number is .....big blank space.

They are rather off putting. Goods look nice but luxury looking stuff by brands I haven't heard of don't tempt me. And still expensive.

Done. Also checked out the website, I had never heard of it before, and they don't seem to have much at all...

Report
hermioneweasley · 27/05/2012 21:21

Wow, have checked put the website. They seem to have less than 100 items, but all fairly similar and really expensive. No wonder they are drumming up business. Forking out £250 for all that advertising and market research - what an absolute bargain we are!

asuwere · 27/05/2012 21:03

totally agree with bogeyface I went to the site but I refuse to sign up to something before I know if it's worthwhile. Surely they could let you see the offers but you can only get access to them if you sign up/log in? Really puts me off.

The topic title looks like you're asking if I have a child who is aged 0-6 or is pregnant.
And there's no reason why a site shouldn't or can't show you what you're missing by not becoming a member before making you sign up.

I am disappointed that the "flash" element of this website wasn't explained properly. I sign upo to groupon, and in theory wouldn't mind being a member of another similar website - but casabu has very limited stock. I have now logged in and will get bloody annoying emails about the same 12 items of fairly expensive stock.

grrrr.

One question about the site that wasnt asked in the survey

"Would you sign up to a site that you couldnt browse before entering email info etc?"

No I wouldnt, which is why I havent. I like to make sure the site will be of interest to me before I sign up to it and not just hand out my personal info to marketeers!
