We're a bit excited that actor Stephen Mangan is popping in to join us for a webchat on Thursday 15 May at 11.15am to chat about his new film Postman Pat: The Movie.

Stephen is best known as Guy Secretan in the fabulous, Bafta winning series Green Wing. He will be remembered by many for his role as Adrian Mole in The Cappuccino Years on the BBC. To Alan Partridge fans he will .

On 23rd May Postman Pat: The Movie hits the big screens across the UK and Stephen Mangan is the voice of Greendale's favourite postie. The film finds Pat coming face-to-face with the temptations of money, status and a shiny new suit when he enters a national TV talent show competition. What happens when local fame meets global notoriety? Pat is set to find out as he falls for the age-old temptation of the grass being greener?

If you're around at 11.15 on Thursday morning, drop by and chat to Stephen and for those who are unable to make that time, post a question for him on this thread ahead of the webchat.

Hi Stephen,

Did you feel cheated as an actor that Guy Secetran did not end up with Caroline Todd? Yes, he was a knob, utterly charmless, and had slept with his mother, but...

@moonblues

Hi Stephen. Wish they were making more Dirk Gently.

I guess that it must be nice to have made something that your kids can watch.

So my question is - What are you most looking forward to showing them in the future as they get older, and what would you be most embarrassed to have them watch?

Thanks. :)

I think the most embarrassing thing I've shot as far as my children will be concerned is a scene I did for Nathan Barley in which I played a porn star called Rod Senseless. I may have to pretend that was somebody else!
Otherwise, I'm really looking forward to them seeing pretty much everything I've done - not because I think I'm amazing in it, but I'm lucky to be in a job that I can share with my children, even though they'll have to be in their twenties before they can see most of the stuff I've done.

Stephen, have you managed to put that law degree to good use at any point in your career? Any regrets about doing law?

Listen, everyone makes mistakes. Ok Guy slept with his mother, it doesn't make him a bad person. And yes, I was furious that Guy did not end up with Caroline. Even utterly charmless knobs deserve a happy ending.

hi stephen, my husband met tamsin last week at the mall gallery where her portrait is on show (just to name drop, my husband is the portrait painter who painted tony blair), and he said she was lovely!

would you be up for having your portrait painted?

ps, we are episodes fans, and it looks like you all have such fun filming it!

I still am not sure why I did a law degree. It feels like a different person. However, I am able to read a contract so I know when I'm being screwed. The only other thing I can remember is when the police are allowed to stop and search your vehicle - not had to use that one yet. I wish I'd studied something else - English, maths (yes, maths!), or hairdressing. Something useful.

@TwoLeftSocks

What's your favourite biscuit? (someone's got to ask, and the 'do you now want to be a postie' one's already gone)

My favourite biscuit is a chocolate Hobnob. I can eat a packet in one sitting. In fact, I'm off to find some now.

Thanks for all your questions. I hope you and your children enjoy Postman Pat: The Movie. It's good to know there's so much love out there for Episodes, Green Wing and Dirk Gently... Did you know that the Mumsnet offices is basically like a five star hotel? Swimming pool, jacuzzi and sunbeds. No ones doing any work here at all. Thank you, goodbye!

Hi, Stephen! Introduced DH to Episodes yesterday, who mumbled something about working on his laptop but kept chortling throughout. I'm quite sure I'm investing far too much time in rooting for Sean & Bev's relationship but love the natural style you two act in. Please tell me they get through it!

So my question for you is...who's going to win the FA Cup? Smile

Or alternatively...is Postman Pat to scary for 2 year olds? Should I wait for the DVD?

I can't believe I missed this! I just saw two tweets about chocolate hobnobs and "Rod Senseless" and rushed straight to this thread...! Sounded like good fun!

PS- I'm like the previous poster and would like to know if Postman Pat would be suitable for 2 year olds! Although I realise I'm too late for Stephen to reply!

This has been my most favourite webchat ever. What a lovely funny man. I wish my acting career (which I abandoned when I was 19) had worked out so that I might have a chance of working with him......
